Seiko is a good watch, as is movado. Did you know movado also makes coach watches and michael kors are made by fossil, as are Michele watches. Swiss movements are great but Japanese movements are quality, too.

I think the best watches are automatic. Seiko and citizens have a version of an automatic watch. Eco drive and something else, I can't remember the name.

I know oversized watches are in, but I think I wouldn't go too oversized.
I think it will look dated.

And as you get older, a watch with gold hands and gold face gets hard to read! Something to consider if you are buying an investment watch.

I love watches. I bought my chunky Bulova stainless steel and gold one about 10 years ago and I love it. I never wear any of my other watches. I wanted one without a diamond and a plain face. When I found it I was very happy. It was an investment but worth it. I do wear my mother's gold watch for fancy occasions.

Thistle - I am also a watch girl. I have a very delicate white gold and diamond very delicate braided band and tiny white gold and diamond face that I wear from the beach to black tie. This is a piece of jewelry and practical and it sounds like you are making this one of your key or statement pieces. So I would really thinking about saving for what you really want. Unless you are really 100% happy with settling (which does not usually work for me) something less might be tossed aside sooner without making you happy and actually be more costly/wear in the long run. Just a thought. Only you know. Movados are a very distinct look and very good pieces. I would seeif you can try it on, try on something similiar, or at least make a cut out from the measurement to get a real feel for size, but itf that's the one you love I would save and budget it. A great watch will last a life time. My little charmer is 14 yo and I change out crystals and batteries and it goes right back on!! Good luck with your choice, all lovely picks!!

I am a total watch girl - I tell time the old fashioned way, on a watch not a phone! I like the Movado but I'd be cautious about spending so much on a watch for daily wear, but then my daily wear watches have to be the type that can "take a licking and keep on ticking."

Try on several different watch face sizes before you decide. My favorite of all the watches here is the Fossil Stella in rose.

I bought my first oversized watch about 3-4 years ago and wore it constantly until the battery died and I forgot to get it changed. I added a smaller man styled watch and almost never wore it. More recently I bought the fossil chronograph that Aida has in rose gold and love it. I like all of the watches you posted and the movado is the "cleanest" look and is lovely but I really like them all. I found a few more options including a smaller movado that is closer to your price range and a MK that is much lower price point.

If you think this will be a forever type of accessory, then the higher price may be worth it. If you aren't sure of the longevity, perhaps go with a lower priced option and then upgrade in a year or two if you still love it.
Finds are attached for other similar options including the Fossil.

I also love Movados. But all three of them what you posted look similar pattern. My husband likes wearing big sized watches. So, planning to purchase Chronograph Fastrack watch for this Diwali to gift it to my husband.

I really like all three that you posted and they are all in the same spirit. I felt the same way about the chronograph feature, but I actually use it all the time to know how much time has gone by for some specific activity.

ETA: I think Movado is supposed to be good quality as a watch/piece of jewelry.

I love the 2 Movados posted and obviously an investment for either. I have been expanding my watch collection and recently added a gold "boyfriend" watch. The larger size takes some getting used to (very heavy) but once you go big, it's strange to wear a smaller watch. (I like the chrono also but have no idea how it works - just like the looks). My criteria was a much smaller budget, but definitely no crystals or any sparkle (and I'm queen of the magpies). I was able to find this baby on deep discount with a coupon I paid $90.
http://www.zappos.com/dkny-nolita-ny8514-gold
Obviously not in the Movado league, but I'm sure if you are patient and shop around you can find something. I am generally not very patient in my searches, but for this it took me almost a year to find THE ONE. I am quite happy with it. Department stores (Nordstrom, Macy's, Lord & Taylor) seem to have sales often and the styles change frequently.

I do like the look of the Movado, but I feel like it's a bit overprized. I'm not sure I would want to spend that much on this watch. I agree about the chrystals, I didn't want them either when I was searching for a watch. I've had a look and here are three Seikos that look similar to the one you linked to, but without chrystals.

http://www.amazon.com/Seiko-Sp.....graph+gold
http://www.amazon.com/Seiko-Ch.....graph+gold
http://www.amazon.com/Seiko-Wo.....graph+gold

Although these don't have automatic movement!

I agree with Adelfa about not going too big, but I think a men's watch that is on the smaller side should definitely work. That's my watch below, it's a small men's watch.

ETA
Mine is 38mm, I definitely didn't want to go bigger. The Movado is 43mm and the MK 46mm, that's fairly big. It might work on you, but my wrists would be too small for those. Regular women's watches often are 30-36mm, the oversized women's watches 38/39mm (e.g. Fossil).

Oh, Thistle, I have been wanting a Movado my whole life! In fact just this weekend I randomly thought I should save for one! Simply because of the design.

Raisin and Sarah, what are crystals? I'm sorry to be so ignorant! ETA: whoops, missed that link. Thought you were talking about some kind of watch movement!

Thistle, I may be totally off base, but I would be careful about getting one of the really big watches currently in style and expecting to wear it forever. I remember in the 80s, big watches were in style, but they went out after a while. A classic woman's watch is not the size of a man's watch.

Don't get me wrong. I have a big Michael Kors gold watch (with a square face) that I really love. But I consider it a trendy piece of costume jewelry and not something enduring.

I have a colleague who has a watch that's on the big side of what I'm calling the classic woman's watch, but smaller than current trends. I've looked at it and thought that that was a good choice, and one that would endure. I wonder what the fabbers think!

And good luck on the watch hunt, and congratulations on the bonus!

I do love the looks of the Movado. Movado makes a quality product. Most true watch geeks dont care for the simplfied face design and quartz movement, but i do think it is a beautiful watch. As far as i know they are still all Swiss made. Movado also makes a ESQ series with some similar looks but at a lower pricepoint.

http://www.movado.com/find-a-w.....01401.html

I'm not a fan of crystals. And the chrono is more sporty looking, so my fav is the Movado. It's very sleek and minimal looking, and I think you wear well for a very long time. Stalk it, or if you can rustle up some extra cash (I know your budget was $600 right?) I think it's worth it.

So, I have been perusing lots of gold watches, and I keep coming back to this one again and again. http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/mo.....sultback=0

It is outside my budget, but I am patient and could stalk it should it ever go on sale. Not sure if this brand ever goes on sale. I have no idea how "good" a brand Movado is. I had been trying to find a Seiko as YLF had said that was a good one.

Here is my second favorite (you can see it is quite similar to the first). and well within my budget. http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/mi.....sultback=0

Not sure why I like the chronograph look as I doubt I will ever use it!

This was my favorite of the Siekos. Only thing I wasn't as happy with was the Swarovski crystals. http://www.seikousa.com/pop-up.....p?a=SNDX76

I am also so unsure of size. These all look BIG!

I will probably keep this for a long, long time and will wear close to daily as I don't currently own a watch (been using my phone forever). So I am trying to choose wisely.
