Patience, I know what you mean about incorporating fall styles. I have 2 great jackets that I only got to wear maybe 2 times last year because it was so warm. To answer Nicole's question, I was born in Chicago, but grew up in Boise, Idaho, so I really miss all my heavy sweaters and boots and jackets. I'm definitely a snow capped mountains type of girl. Acclimating to Austin's heat hasn't been too bad, because before here I lived in Indiana and then Oklahoma, which are both very humid as well (Boise is dry as a bone). But those places also have 4 true seasons, while it's very mild here half the year and the other half it's really hot. Austin has definitely been way better for me than IN or OK but adapting my wardrobe (and hair) to Austin's warmer climate has been a huge challenge for me, since I like to layer and haven't really worn a lot of dresses and skirts and light weight clothing my whole life until now.

Nicole, I had to investigate my shoes to answer your question. I think the curve is supposed to be a feature. Since they're platforms, the sole doesn't flex. So the curve at the toe allows you to roll onto your toes as you walk. Also, I grew up in Louisiana so I just like mild winters. I guess I'm just used to bearing the heat and AC is everywhere.

Patience, I'm talking about the curve on the bottom of the shoe under your toes. It looks like the shoe curves up quite a bit. Like your feet would be rocking back and forth while you walk. It must not have been an issue for walking though if you found them comfy!

Ana, you mentioned once that you are originally from "up North". How North? And how difficult was it acclimating to Texas heat? Patience, are you from TX originally?

Ana, the weather is not going to freakishly change here, I can assure you. Actually, our problem will be incorporating fall styles when it's still 100 degrees outside. Last fall was when I started reading Angie's blog and I wanted to try a lot of the things she suggested but I'd go out and see all these people in cami's, shorts and flip flops when she was talking about scarves and boots.

Nicole, I didn't have a problem walking on them. Lately a lot of the born styles are a bit slippery on bottom but I think these are okay once you've scuffed them up. Maybe I'm not understanding what you are asking about.

I like those and I think Born are really comfy. They look like gladiator/platform shoes. Those will look really sharp with white bottoms.

I definitely will wear my gold shoes into probably October. Unless the weather freakishly changes for some reason. Hey Patience, you can do it too!

http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/2.....29953.html

I bought them to wear with walk shorts/clamdiggers. They are super comfy by the way although I've only worn them once so far.

Well said Tanya. I even like gold with silver and grey as long as there is white in the ensemble (white acts as the best neutralizer).

You look pretty in gold Ana. Wear your gold shoes right into Autumn. Your Summers are long.

Hooray! I love gold and haven't owned any gold accessories (other than jewelry, like you) before coming to this site, but I realized what a great "neutral" metallics could be. They really add a lot to clothing and you can wear them with almost anything.

My personal view on gold is that it looks good with any color that gold jewelry would look good with. While I don't think there is a color you absolutely cannot wear gold with (maybe grey is all I can think of--I think they are at odds a lot), gold tends to look best with shades that have a warm base. All colors come in shades with a warm base, even "cool" colors: blue (think warm aquas, turquoise, more vibrant shades of navy), greens (with yellowish tints to them), purple (fuschias tend to have a red base rather than blue). Does this make sense?

Of course gold looks great with warm, vibrant jewel tones like coral, red, bright pink, intense yellows (don't want to be too close in shade to the gold) and neutrals such as brown, black and cream.

Do you have a photo of your new sandals? I'd love to see them!

I think you can wear them with absolutely everything, in fact, when I can not figure out what shoes to wear with some outfit metallics are the safest choice.

I have never worn an article of gold clothing except for jewelry. But you guys have inspired me to choose gold over silver for the pair of sandals I bought. (And I love them). Since I don't have much experience with gold, I'm wondering if there are any colors I should not wear with my new shoes (besides other metallics)?
