I agree with what others have said. I am a mainly gold jewelry person and often opt for brushed gold if there is gold elsewhere. I think pearls are just fine. I think also that it is a matter of balancing shiny and matte. If there is too much shine it reads as bling. Copper and pewter work with both gold and silver.

As you probably know, I strictly wear gold jewelry, and I have found that it goes with pretty much every color. It goes great with creamy pearls, and I love the tortoise shell necklace you have on, it's very warm and pretty, I don't think it looks overly summery, you could definitely make it work for Fall/Winter.

Shiny, I love the dress/bag with the necklace you have on. I can't see close up but from the photo it doesn't look to summery anyway.

Also, I know what you mean about feeling to "blingy" on gold sometimes. I just recently got a brushed gold large link long necklaces at Kohl's really cheap ($10 on sale or something like that) & the brushed gold doesn't feel near as costumey to me for some reason. So, that's always something to try as well.

I think you are right on mixing it with other beads also - I think that helps!

Outfit looks GREAT by the way!

Hey Shiny,
I have a white bag with gold accents (including lots of zippers, seen in this post http://youlookfab.com/2009/04/.....-by-storm/
)
I wear it with all of my jewelry. I prefer gold or at least pewter to bright silver with it, but it doesn't clash.

I have a lot of questions lately. :-)

Gold seems to be the trend lately, and I have taken the plunge a bit. I probably look better in silver but I do like gold as well and think I can wear both. My question is this:

If you have a purse with gold accents, like my new purse:
http://s386.photobucket.com/al.....ust003.jpg

What options are there for jewelry? I fear if I had a gold statement necklace that was bold and big like some of my silver necklaces, it would be way too blingy for me.

So I'm looking for other options. For example in that pic the necklace I'm wearing has delicate gold rings and turtoise shell so I think that works okay, although to my eye it's more of a summery necklace.

What about pearls? Do white/cream pearls work with gold or are they better than silver?

Am I over-thinking this?
