I saw this dress in JC Penney the other day: http://www5.jcpenney.com/jcp/X.....atId=50434|50444|63883|64328

It made me think of Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman when they went to a polo match I think, which maybe isn't the look you're going for, but it's what I think of when I think of horse events. She wore spectator pumps (I think) and a white hat with a brown ribbon.

Jwomack,

I'm a native Louisvillean, though I live a couple of hours north of there now. I've been to the Derby and Churchill Downs several times. Dressing for the Derby can be difficult because early May can be hotter than Hades or freezing and raining. Usually, it's pretty warm (though rain is common). Will you be in the stands on the infield side or do you have a box?

Do you live in Louisville?

I am going to the Kentucky Derby as a corporate guest through my husband's work. I need suggestions on what you would wear to this event. I know that hats are a must and I always envisioned a nice sundress at this race. After looking at some pictures online (albeit mostly of celebrities), it seems almost a little more sophisticated than a cotton sundress. I am fine with halters and/or sleeveless and might buy a little cardi to wear on top. Should I go for a subtle pattern for interest. I found one black and white colorblock (more of a sheath) but it is linen and I am concerned I will look all wrinkled quickly. Know of any cute dresses that will work for this event?
