Yes, it can get windy there (my husband has windsurfed at Lincoln City)! So the key is layers. It's nice to have a base tee, a cardigan or light jacket, a vest, and a heavier jacket or pullover (fleece, lightweight wool) that can all be worn together!

I would stick with nice, simple foundation pieces and use accessories to dress things up. Jeans and clamdiggers are a definite. White is a dangerous color for the beach Do you have nice, non-gear walking shoes (like Privos)? Those, a pair of beach sandals, and maybe a nicer pair of sandals will do.

Hope you have a good time!

We were there a month ago and while the weather sunny and in the 70s, the wind was very strong, making it somewhat chilly. I brought white clamdiggers and straight leg dark jeans which I ended up cuffing to capri length (gasp ... the only time I wear pants that length) while on the beach. I can't stand wet hems. I brought one cardi that went with everything to layer over my favorite tops, and wore a hoodie over that while on the beach. It was so windy, I needed to wear the hood up even. I wore teva flip-flops on the beach, and wedge sandals everywhere else.

Bring some gear for sure - the beach/hikes/etc will require it. You'll probably be in the sand and won't want the nice new jeans getting ruined. Fleece or something for cold mornings and evenings.

I would bring my nicer jeans and a cute top and cardi/sandals for town excursions or maybe if you all decide to hit a restaurant.
It's a pretty casual area but you can still look good!

no dinners out. mainly hanging with family on beach, going into town a little bit for a little shopping and sitting around the rented house.

Oh and everyone else we will be with, will be in gear or WORSE. ( ie clothes like the capris thread!) LOL!

I do not want to be over dressed but instead, comfortable and cute!

What will you be doing while there? Will you be going out sightseeing or to dinner, or mostly just hanging at the beach?

Where on the Oregon coast will you be? Part of it is on the banana belt, where the weather is more temperate then elsewhere (can get quite windy).

I see that daytime highs will be in the 70s and we will be staying at a house my husband's parents rented on the beach.

The style quotient in my in-laws family is not very high but nonetheless I want to feel good and appropriate.

Is this a time where you break out the gear? Chacos, fitted fleece jacket, jeans (my new premium jeans???), clamdiggers, waterproof or quick dry capris (ugly length capris but oh well I am on the beach?), t-shirts?

What would Angie do?
