If I had your kind of grey I would definitely let it grow in. Alas, my brown hair seems to have patches of brown--at the crown and temples and other random areas. So far I can get away with highlighting it every 10 weeks at which time my hair stylist covers the grey. My shoulder length hair now is kind of brown/blond which is the way it was when I was younger. For now that seems to work. Aside from concern re harm to hair/chemicals I actually did this because: <ul> <li>&nbsp;I'm vain and thought the dark dye (with highlights 2/year to prevent monotone) was aging me</li> <li>I self-identify as a brunette and knew I still had some dark -- I felt like I needed a transition vs stopping "someday" and ending up &nbsp;all or mostly light...or NEVER STOPPING, which depressed me</li> </ul> <b><br /></b>At first I looked washed out as always at the "need a touch up stat!" aka 3 week post-color point. And kind of like I was going bald due to the short silver roots. But once I got 2 inches of growth I think my skin looked better/fresher. Then my hair just looked kind of crappy for the year. ;)<b><br /></b><br />I hear you on the pixie. I've had the George Clooney and didn't want to repeat due to the lack of flattery. Though I was very very tempted several times. Wearing it up helped integrate the ombre.
