Angie- I could not agree more with your enthusiasm. All the possibilities heighten the role of YLF in my spring shopping. You and the YLFers have helped me sift through things much more efficiently, which I especially appreciate since I am shopping from home lately.

Now for the big question on my mind: are we extra lucky this season or is this a reflection of the need for fashion to consistently recognize the different lifestyles, preferences, bodies and phases that drive the need for options? I hope it is the latter.

I'm heading, I hope, into a season of shopping less, but I'm thrilled at the more fluid tops that are around. It's made me realize how much more "me" this is, for all the reasons already stated above. And it's so awesome to have a clue how to wear them now, without just looking frumpy and feeling big. I hope this will help with my purging, an area I struggle with.

What I find interesting is that this spring, I'm automatically reaching for things that last year would have been stepping ouside my box. All this looking at the fab fashions and advice have really influenced me, even if the weather has stopped me. Today I'm sporting BF's rolled up, with booties... who'd have thunk it! Thanks Angie and you awesome fabbers!

Happily waving good bye to the body con boat. Bon voyage!

Smiling along with you! If Angie is happy, it is a good time for fashion indeed.

I'm getting more comfortable with JFE, although there are certain flattery priorities that I'm sure I'll always embrace. I do like the fluid fits because many of them do hint at a body's shape underneath (showing that I do indeed have a waist and not everything is as wide as my widest parts!). The concept of adding structure via various strategies has made all the difference in my adopting more fluid and loose fits, so that has been a huge help, Angie.

I do like that this is a time when many styles and silhouettes are embraced. If a particular trendy look is not ideal for an individual because of body type or style preferences, there are other, just as current, looks to choose from!

An, that's great to hear. We are here to help you when you get stuck with fits and proportions.

Kerry, trends don't stick around for a season these days. Many stick around for at least 5 years, and some much longer than that. PLUS, this level of diverse silhouette is a watershed change in fashion. Embrace it. Tailored, fluid, oversized fits - all very current. It's the body con ft I would think twice about. That ship may have sailed. It's still being sold in stores, but it's definitely the least current. It takes a while to phase out though. I hope that answers your question.

High giving you on everything Sveta and Debbie. xo

OK, here's the thing. I only started enjoying fashion again a few years ago when the silhouettes started changing and I could buy things that flattered my extra figure. So, with all of these options right now, fluid and oversized (which I love) and JFE, what should a girl buy? I'd like to rein in the shopping a bit too but am afraid that the items available now, that work on my hard-to-fit body, may not be around next season or next year.

What types of things are here to stay and what should we stock up on now?

Angie, I'm excited about what's on offer at the moment too - autumn / winter for us. I'm usually a very classic dresser but I'm getting excited to mix in some more trendy pieces this season. I've been really enjoying your ensemble posts. To be honest I've been a bit confused by the more relaxed and fluid silhouettes for some time and how to make them work for a pear. Your posts are really helping me to see how to make some of these new looks work for me. I'm excited to try a silk sweat top, cropped sweater over longer shirt, slip on sneakers, black with ink.

It is definitely a very hard season to be in if you don't want to buy much (for personal reasons) but so much is tempting! I love the liberating nature of 2014 fashion and that it is friendly to all body types. Fluid fit is absolutely ingenious because it is comfortable and flattering in the same time - what not to love? And then occasional foray into a tailored look is so much more welcomed when you don't have to do it every day and do it when you feel like it. As it was said - liberating!
My only wish to improve this season of abundance would be to have more options for tall gals and also to have more fashionable options in footwear for my hard to find size...but I guess I want too much from life

I'm trying not to go purchase happy myself... although it kind of would make sense to stock up since I normally don't like spring fashions at all and SS is my dominant season. Trying to decide how to get the most bang out of a few things... white blazer is one, PJ jeans, citron bag, cat print bag, pointy pumps. Next I think some dressy, floaty tunics/short dresses that can pair with my cropped jackets and skinnies. And hopefully something floral! I'm so picky with florals...

Shannon, the industry still has a long way to go but you're absolutely right. Retailers are good at making length, fit and size variations available online. At least there is that option. This was not the case 20 years ago.

I'm on this Team with you Angie! From my perspective, it's almost like designers have made a conscious effort to make clothing that fits more body types than in the past. Previous years/seasons often had trends that were difficult to look right on those who were under-tall and/or over-weight. This season is so different and as someone who is not the average size, this is just a breath of fresh air!

This is the second year in a row that I'm head-over-heels for the spring stuff and not-very-interested in the fall stuff. I love that there are so many different fit options now, but I have to say I am more frustrated than ever in trying items on and trying to figure out fits and sizes.

I am also enjoying the wide variety, it's nice that there is something for everyone, instead of having to sit out for a season waiting for styles to change.

I really like that there is so much variety, and so many opportunities to include the unconventional. I makes me feel like I'm embraced and welcomed by fashion, rather than excluded.

Well, you know I love the fashion this season! For a while in the winter I was not feeling inspired to shop at all (pretty much the only things I bought were basics and desperate needs like the Blondo boots, my black Longchamp tote, etc) but then suddenly it was like a switch flipped and I started wanting to buy everything in sight.

That said, one of the things I am liking about 2014 fashion is that it incorporates a lot of different looks and styles, and in fact several of my "so 2014" outfits are mostly comprised of older items from 2013 and earlier. For example, you mentioned in the blog post this morning that tailored jackets were harder to come by recently; while this may be true, I think the tailored look is still in style, and I have been making good use of my existing collection of tailored jackets.
