He took me to games when I was a kid, and I remember attending the 1979 World Series with him. I’m sad he never got to attend a game at Camden Yards, which celebrated 30 years this year and set new standards for baseball stadiums to come. I think of him at every single game I attend. I was fortunate enough to be able to take my dad to game 1 of the 2004 World Series in Boston. (It was the year Boston finally won the series). Baseball was the only sport my dad cared about , and he was like a little kid at the game. It was such a thrill to be able to take him. Anyway I’ll support any team not the Yankees, so go Blue Jays! My dad would listen to the game on the radio while outside working on the vegetable garden. He was fortunate enough to co-own season tickets with colleagues at work. The two seats were in the sixth row behind home plate at the old Exhibition Stadium in Toronto in the 80s. We would go to five or six games a season. Those seats were fantastic! My sister and I saw the players' wives and their kids: Cindy Key, Joshua and Jessica Barfield. My favourite player was third baseman, Kelly Gruber, but that was because of his longish, curly blond hair! haha! We would even bump into the players and their families at Canada's Wonderland amusement park. (Cecil fielder's son was afraid to go on the Ghoster Coaster, but he was only about three or four years old at the time.)  When the SkyDome was built and we were up with the gods on the 500 level and were thrilled in 1992 and 1993 when the Jays made the playoffs and won back-to-back World Series. The "waves" were amazing, frequently making it around the Dome three times! Twirling the giveaway towels in a sea of frenzied, screaming fans. Today, Friday, October 7, is the first game of the American League wild-card series in baseball for the Toronto Blue Jays versus the Seattle Mariners. The first pitch starts tonight, and Toronto is at home. One team has to win the best two out of three games. I can tell you, Toronto (and Canadians) are PUMPED! (Partly because the Blue Jays are the only Canadian-based franchise in the MLB!) :) This is the first time that the Jays and Mariners have ever played each other in the post-season. The last postseason game to feature the Mariners took place Oct. 22, 2001. The Blue Jays are making their fourth postseason appearance in eight years, but before that, they had not made the playoffs since winning the back-to-back World Series titles in 1992 and 1993.  The matchup should be entertaining with potentially lots of home runs!  Angie, I don't know if you or Greg, but I wish you lots of fun for both of you and Seattle!  GO JAYS GO!
