I learned from my optometrist that (at least some) brands will replace scratched lenses within a warranty period... I think mine was up to a year or more from purchase. I've made a note on my calendar to consider that before the period runs out.

Like lyn67, I wash in warm water with mild dish soap every few days or whenever oily stuff gets on them. Otherwise, I clean several times a day by breathing on them to get some condensation from the air, then wiping with a lens cloth or a soft, clean cotton cloth. I was taught never to wipe glasses with paper.

I only use the cloths from the optometrist or that came with my glasses to wash or dry clean my glasses.

I use a spray and cloth from the optometrist. And a clean white bedsheet. Nothing else.

I also should have mentioned the terrible paper towels. Any paper ruins your specs. Dishwashing soap is dependent on the one you use. I would not risk it as some of ours here are very strong.

I do need to wash mines once a few days with lookwarm water and mild dish detergent as nothing other cleans them so good! FYI I did try all the other things, too-spray, wet wipes, and special cloth---it seemy my specs get rather oily (in small patches) from creams, hair spray, make-up or cooking-who knows. It's the cloth you are wipping them after the wash that matters more I think -so don't use scratchy or prebalmed(!!) paper towels! I use the special cloth for specs for this. But it happened to me to ruin my coatings in the past (I always have those against sun and blue light) when I washed them 1.too often 2. in hot water and 3. probably scratched them with paper towels of all kinds...so be aware of that!

I had a bad experience with peeling protective coating in the past. I asked not to have it on my two current pairs. Never use any wash or wipes with alcohol as an ingredient. I have a spray formula from the optometrist but I use it sparingly. I do wipe with a dry cloth (also from the optometrist) regularly. I think less washing and wiping with liquids is better in the longer term.

My glasses also get filthy during the day, but these Zeiss wipes that I buy by the box seem to keep them clean without scratching the lens. I also use the wipes to clean my phone and pocket mirrors while I have them out to clean my glasses. (I got them on Amazon.)

I have not worn glasses for that many years.
I have bifocals and get the scratch resistant coating.
It seems like I have to wash my glasses 7-8 times per day. My relatively new glasses seem to have minor scratches on them already with the protective coating on them.
What are your experiences with glasses?
