Adelfa on "glasses shopping"

Wow, I had to be away for a while and I'm so thrilled to get all of this feedback! Thank you!

I'm attaching two more pics here. #2 is my newest pair, the pair that broke. TBH I was wearing them less and less because they just felt too BLACK for me, even though I really liked the shape. They look okay in the pic below because there is a lot of black in the outfit, but I didn't like how they went with lighter tonal outfits, or with pink or lime green. So I was wearing an older pair a lot, which was a half-rimless dark bronze pair (#1). These seemed dated but I was a whole lot happier with them color wise. Also I thought maybe the smaller footprint on my face was more attractive?

Claire, Carla, Aileen, Deb, Firecracker, DV--The Tory Burch frames were my favorite too. Probably the only thing that kept me from snatching them up was that I needed to have an appointment first! I loved them because they weren't black, and because with the thinner rim on the bottom they reminded me of my old #1s.

Suz, Vicki, Denise--thanks so much for stretching me. That's what I wanted. The three of you want color and/or intensity and I think that's interesting, when I was going for refinement. Of course you're right with Angie!

Angie--that is very specific advice and I'm grateful. I will look for these things--chunkier frames but lighter or colorful. A couple of different lines had a clear olive green color that I was very drawn to, but the shapes were wrong.

Thanks, everyone! I'll put up pics when I have more candidates!

I love the transition from thick to thin in #2 -- as a result they seem a bit more refined. Sorry about your glasses ...

Ooh, I like glasses shopping. But not for the reason you have to do it. How are you going to see in the meantime? Do you have a backup?

Of these, I like #2 best, though I think both seem a good shape for you. I like Angie's thoughts! She's so good at choosing glasses frames.

Sorry your specs broke.

I vote keep on looking. The shapes are quite good, but the colour a little dark, and the temples too delicate. You would look even better in chunkier frames - and a colour.

Between the two I prefer 1. More graphic. But I too would like to see some other pairs. Maybe something like Angie's green specs? Not solid color but some color. Or, go for something large, black and edgy and dramatic like the ones the J Crew women always wear. You can totally pull it off Jody! One of the benefits of not having a tiny head is that you look great in a large variety of specs.

What a bummer, Adelfa, and I do hope you can find another pair that offers that much longevity. I like #1 from the front and the second pair for the bottom shape. I'm leaning with Suz in wanting to see a few more styles on you. Do they also have some with the different inner color on the ear pieces that Angie has mentioned in some of her blog articles on eyeglasses shopping?

I want to see some more before coming to a conclusion. I think the shape of #2 is better but I kind of like the intensity of #1.

So sorry your others broke.

Jody, so sorry your specs broke! These are both really nice. I have a slight preference for the second pair, because I'm partial to the lighter lower rims (I might look into that next time I need a pair). I feel like you could handle a larger pair of frames if you wanted to--oversized or nerd style (wish I could). The ones you selected are a good fit for having your eye centered and they both seem fairly refined.

My newest pair of glasses broke and when I went to the optometrist just now, I was told they were not repairable! (And not replaceable either.) This hasn't happened to me before in 45 years of glasses wearing so with any luck it will be another 45 years before it happens again :-)

These were the two I liked best after a quick perusal of the store. My appointment is next Thursday so I have plenty of time before it's even possible to order them.

Pics 1 and 2: Oakley
Pics 3 and 4: Tory Burch

I think both pairs are a dark brown. Is either pair good enough to bring home? Any issues with current/noncurrent?

Forgive the lack of hair and makeup, I was just stopping by after yoga to get my glasses fixed!
