Very interesting. Thanks for having pro hubby chime in, Dani. #8 is my third favourite :0)

I still like #1 best. The skew factor is EASILY fixable. They look delicate, fun, serious, pretty, hip and cheeky at the same time, which is how our Anne is. And they’re very flattering. I’m totally convinced of this pair, but if you’re not, Anne, carry on looking.

Revisiting this once again...

The oval frames:
They do outline the shape of your beautiful eyes very nicely. However, I don't like how they are sitting on the top of your cheek. They look too small, thus making your face look chubby and overly round and too ... cheeky (but not in a good way). This is my issue too; I have a cherubic face and cheeks, which is why I gravitate towards rectangular frames. Now, this may be fixable if you got wider ovals, though maybe not, because you see how the frames are sitting on top of your cheek bone? These just seem to add pounds to your face, I'm afraid! (And will probably annoy you to no end).

Whereas the rectangular frames go straight across your cheeks, therefore minimizing them a tad. Plus most of the rectangular frames you've chosen are wider across, so your face to me looks thinner. Also they just look funkier and trendier.

#9 ... I think these are too small for your face.

#8... I like these.

I do like the color of #6 very much, and think it would work with most of your wardrobe.

#5... these seem more "safe" than the rest - it's the color. I think you want something bolder?

#3 ... color is too dark and not as flattering.

#1... these are cute! Yes, lopsided though. I have that issue too, and I'm sure it's my ears. But it does seem that you may be able to get these adjusted. I would explore that.

So for me it's #8, #6, or #1. Not in any particular order. :-)

I don't know if this is true (Dani can you ask your DH?) but my optometrist always says that your eyebrows should show and not be covered up by the frame. So the frame either needs to hit below your eyebrow, or above it. All three of these seem to fit the bill.

Width is something else to watch out for - you don't want them narrower than your face but neither do you want them too wide. This is always the hardest part for me; I usually have to be relegated to children's frames to get the right fit. It's hard for me to tell if #1 is the right width, because of the angle of the photo.

I would go back one more time, and try 1, 6, 8 again. Take more photos including side views. And wear something pink, if you want to be able to wear these glasses with pink! I think you're very close to selecting. How exciting!!

I really want new frames too - even though I rarely wear my glasses out of the house - but unfortunately my doctor said I don't need to change my prescription, and my frugality won out (for a change, LOL). The glasses I have are rectangular though... and similar in color to some of these (a red, but a darker/browner red) .... but the frame is not quite as chunky as the ones you picked, therefore not as trendy.

Thanks AJ and Maya

AJ - you make a good point about the close=ups. I didn't realise at the time that DH was doing them so close, although in every other respect having him take them instead of me makes for much better pics.

Maya - I will ask about the lopsided thing. I know the manager of this shop and her is always very helpful (kind of makes me not want to check out other shops though)

This is a hard decision and you are right, I need to take my time about it. Previously I have gone in, and selected a pair in a lunchbreak amount of time, because I knew I was only choosing from a selection that were "free" for people with private medical insurance, and that I could just get another pair next year. Most of the ones I have been trying on have looked better than those free pairs though, so I am making progress.

thanks again

Hi Anne. The first ones bother me because they are lopsided. It looks as though the left (in the picture) earpiece is not sitting on your ear. I wonder if it's just a matter of moving it down, but I also wonder if this means they are too small for you even though the frames look okay. Mine are not able to hug my face like that. As long as they are not uncomfortable, I think you can just straighten them out. Maybe ask the optometrist for input. Do they have a spring hinge (able to bend both ways)?

I think 8 is my favorite though. I think I'll like 1 once they're straightened out too. I find 6 a little overwhelming and maybe too a bold color. Personally I would get bored and tired of it easily. I really like the idea of red colors for you though. Your eyes pop like crazy!

It seems like our replies haven't narrowed things down all that much, right? Glasses are a real investment because you'll be wearing them every day for years, so I think it's important for you to strongly consider what you like best and what you'll be happiest living with for a number of years.

Anne -- I am chiming in belatedly but my favorites in order are #1 (if the lopsidedness can be fixed), #6 and #8. I think that the reason the thicker frames look a bit heavy is that the photos are close-ups. If the photos were taken farther away and we saw them in context of your whole body and outfit, I don't think they'd appear too heavy. I like the red/pink colors with your blond hair. Good luck making a decision!

Anne, I see you have already made your selection - yay! You look so cute and I like the bright colors you're going for. I like 1, 4, and 6 the best.

RE: the glasses being lopsided, if this is caused by the earpieces, your optometrist should be able to bend them gently into shape. I buy my glasses at Costco (a large buy-in-bulk membership warehouse, and the optical center carries designer glasses at low prices) and even after several months, I can go into their optical center and have them reshape the frames a little if they are crooked or uncomfortable.

If the crookedness is caused by the fit on your nose, there may not be much you can do since it looks like you don't have nose-pieces (the little plastic bits that rest on the sides of your nose) since these are thick plastic frames.

I am still not sure, and haven't really spent that much time looking. This is a big purchase for me, and I don't want to get it wrong as it will have to last for a few years.

Anne, for what it's worth...my husband is an optometrist and looked at the photos with me. We both liked #8 best. I know Angie has said her piece, but I don't like how lopsided the first pair is and it appears the thickness of those frames is a concern for you. I think #6 would also be a good choice. Good luck!

Thanks ladies - it is hard isn't it!

Inge and Shiny - my eyes aren't actually as blue as they appear! DH, who took the pics, said they looked bluer in the camera.

I really like the dark red colour in number 1 but I am not convinced about the frames yet.

Inge - have a look at my last thread for lots of rectangular frames.

I was trying, as per Angie, to look at oval and cats eye frames but there aren't many about, it seems so some of these are more like rounded rectangles.

Wow, how can anyone have such gorgeous blue eyes!!??-)
You look fantastic Anne!

I'm afraid I won't be much help here either, picking out specs is so difficult.

1 is fun but I think the frame might be a bit too heavy for your face. Or not? Sigh, I don't know;-)
I'm guessing the frames in 2 and 3 are a bit too large.
I love the stripey detail of pair 5, but they look a little big as well.
For some reason I also really like the pinkish colour (and shape) of 6, but I'm not sure about the fit.
I really like 7, colour, shape and fit. Although I'm wondering if a somewhat more rectangular shape is better for your face shape.
Not sure about 8 and 9.

Pffff, you see, no help at all.
Angie we need you!!!
