I think I asked this questions for validation that I wasn't crazy. What is interesting is that the question was prompted by an exchange with the author of a style/fashion blog. "Modern glamour" to me is completely different from "glam." While I like a rock n roll edge, I want Sofia Loren, not Poison hair!

I always associate "glam" with Glam Rock -- big hair, chains, tight pants on men, Axl Rose, etc. I suppose this dates me, lol.

Glamour, on the other hand, evokes the same images as chewyspaghetti says: full length gowns, red carpets, fur coats, long gloves...

Interesting question.
I think of glamour being old school and elegant- red carpet, full length gowns and the like. I think of glam as not necessarily a good thing- sparkles, sequins, huge false eyelashes, and for some reason drag queens come to mind.

I've been getting the feeling recently that some people (not on this site) use the words and styles "glamour" and "glam" interchangeably. To me, the two have very different meanings. I'm just curious what you stylish and smart ladies think. When you hear the two words, do they conjure up the same images? If so, what do you see? If not, how are they different?
