Hmmm. This is all very interesting. Angie says she's going to put in in the fab finds next week, so I hope she will be particular about its fit. At this point I'm confused about whether or not it will work for me.

I saw this while making a return last week, and I tried it on too. I gotta say I liked last year's version better. This one is shorter and less streamlined, and it is definitely cut smaller. I bought last years's version in black in a size small (I could have gone for a medium if I wanted a more boyfriend fit). The arms were snug with a layer underneath but they stretched with a little time and wear.

This year's version I tried on in a medium, which seemed to *almost* fit -- but it simultaneously felt snug in the chest yet bulky in the body. Maybe this is a better cut for someone straighter than I am. I thought the arms had more room than last year's model -- and I don't have skinny arms. My main problem with this year's jacket was that it seemed almost short on me, which is strange because even though I'm a little taller than average (5'7"), my height is in my legs, my torso is pretty short, and I often like slightly shorter jackets. but somehow the combination of fit, shortness, and the peplum added up to a feeling that this was not flattering to me.

I didn't do much analysis when I tried it on, I just quickly dismissed it, so I'm not sure I'm doing a good job of articulating the issues I had with it. My takeaway was that while last year's jacket makes me feel like I look long and lean, this one made me feel squat.

I'm certainly not trying to dissuade anyone from trying it! We're all built differently. It just didn't work for me.

Ah, it is the one! I was actually hoping it was, since I seem to have the opposite fit issues to those you mentioned: shoulders often too narrow for jackets that fit torso, booty/waist sometimes too curvy for the cut of long jackets/dresses and causes back wrinkles...

PS: have you seen this dress? It reminded me of you. Not quite a galaxy print, but similar and with a dropped waist.

Rae, it's this one:

http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/gi.....sultback=0

Please don't be discouraged from trying it if you love it - sometimes I feel like I have more fit issues on top than anyone else!

Thanks for the info. It sounds like this definitely won't work for me. My upper arms are relatively large and I don't have a waist either. No duck walk for me! LOL

Which jacket is this? I saw a Gibson in the new Nordstrom catalogue today that looks really yummy, but maybe it's different.

Thank you so much, Una! Very helpful. I think those of us who are still interested might be wise to get actual measurements for this item from customer service. Because it does sound as if fit is super tricky!

Thanks, Una. The size chart says that Regular S bust is 33.5"-34.5"; and M is 35.5"-36.5", so if the Medium didn't fit tiny you, it must run small!!! I'm wondering if the jacket would even button on the photo models; it doesn't look like it. I have fat arms where you have definition, so it sounds like I would not get a fit. . .

Is this jacket a knit or a woven? And how would you describe the Deep Crimson color? On my screen, it looks like slightly oxidized wine.

Since my NAS purchases included the Purity Reversible Knit Jacket which also has a bit of a peplum, I may pass on the Gibson unless it goes on sale at the 1/2 yearly sale.

Thank you for the report! I am extra nervous about fit issues now though...I guess I would be a large? I am normally an 8 on top.

Thanks for the review Una! I ordered the MP today. I think my small-busted self will fit into the top and my "curvage" will fill out the peplum part nicely.

I tried on this blazer at lunch today. It runs small! I tried both small and medium in the regular size. They were really not very different on me. Both were tight across the middle (I couldn't button them comfortably) and the shoulders/upper arms felt tight on me as well. Also, the peplum in the back stuck out at a strange angle on me, probably because I have no waist so that part didn't sit right, even unbuttoned - i looked a bit like a duck.

On the plus side, the color is very nice and looked great with my hair. The ruching is nice and allows for comfy sleeve scrunching.

I do think this could work for an IT with more of a defined waistline. I also think it will work nicely for a slender rectangle or any hourglass as long as not too busty. It's funny because the previous Gibson knit blazer worked really well for me.

Worth a try because it's very pretty, but those were MY fit issues!
