Aubergine, thanks, i guess its a draoe thing. Suz- next!
Alaskagirl, that's what's frustrating about GH- shipping! Got a free code but I'll have to pay to send back. Now some are on sale but no free ship. It makes me resist experimenting as much with their stuff.

Totally agree with your decisions.

I have one of the GH sweaters from a couple of years ago. It's basically a big square. Some sweaters like this work and some don't, maybe depending on exact proportions of it and you.

The camel one is lovely on you. What a beautiful shape! It looks as if if will be very versatile. Great purchase.

It's a shame about the Garnet Hill one. I understand the attraction from the stock photo; it looks texturally interesting, too. And the colour is lovely. But you're right -- you can even see from the photo that the drape isn't right somehow. So, onwards!

The camel one is great! It seems like a really rich shade too, not flat like camel can sometimes look. I like the other one too and don't see maternity at all, but probably good to pass if you didn't love it. Especially if it's itchy.

I agree the camel one is better. I like how they styled the GH one with a layer underneath but if you'd be wearing it alone I agree it's probably not a 10. I'd be curious to see it with a slimmer fit bottom though bc with the skirt I think the proportion is off.

I still can't get the WIW photo to work even though re-created it. It loads but then can't be opened. Hmm.
Thanks for comments. I did some browsing in local boutiques that I don't frequent as often to see if there were some fun sweaters or other items I could try IRL since it's a pain to order online and not know size, colors (except Nordie's!). Have to grapple with idea that some of the more interesting sweaters are pricey, things are not on sale, but I'm not wearing warm sweaters yet so could wait vs. sizes will be gone (the small shops have small inventories) . The Milly sweater I just knew was something I'd been looking for, and used it as a benchmark for being PPP on other items that weren't just so. The good thing is that I have found a few sources of interesting brands outside my usual haunts (AT, and mall stores, I'm looking at you!) where there might not be something now but there might be another time.....

I like the new sweater! That shape is fantastic on you. It's one I really like to wear, too. It's too bad the Garnet Hill one didn't work out. Good that you tried it, though, because now you know!

I had to go ahead and try this
Garnet Hill big sweater (1-stock photo and 2-3) because it looked like it might have a nice boxy fit in
the stock photo and is in beautiful colors. Was worried I might even be tempted to dupe in other colors. But it’s very large at the hem level and reads more
A-line/tent/maternity on me, and is long. May not project well but it doesn't drape or move right for what I want in a "big" sweater. Ironically the neckline is not too large to work.

The other thing is that it is itchy, and I even have some tolerance for that. I had
it on, and then changed to a Talbot’s cashmere sweater for a comparison, and
what a difference. I think even the Talbots could be softer, to be perfectly
picky, yet it was like putting on something cooling after the GH sweater. So no
go, and now I can move on.

4-5: Also shown is merino sweater by Milly. The only photo I
have is over a shirt, but mostly would wear not-layered, though sometimes with
a scarf. Camel is a color I really like
to have in my wardrobe even though it’s not a “best” color, and is really better
if it can be “cool camel” . However, it’s JFE and useful because it gives me a
lighter neutral that’s not gray, and is a substrate for accessories in berries
and teals, goes with black pants and other colors. I think the curved “cocoon”
style is “me” and gives me length for
some bottoms without the horizontal line, and it goes with a host of bottoms. This merino knit is very comfortable,
almost cotton-y (but very warm!).

6: Finally is a WIW pushing fall by starting
to wear tights and a scarf already--a differnent camel sweater with AT black/tan false plain skirt, brown tights, Munro oxfords. Sweater is a mesh cotton I wore
during summer, good for transitional weather and a HEWI style and length —have not been able to find just these proportions.
