When I get stuck in a style rut or become bored, I go back through all my old magazines and cut out inspirational photos (even if I can only find two things I like in an entire magazine). I have a notebook I glue them in so I can quickly flip through it when I get stuck. It's also fun to refashion things that you are currently over using DIY methods, or by challenging yourself to wear it in a new way. I do find it hard not to get tired of everything, especially mid-season. Hang in there!

As long as you are enjoying what you do have, I think that's a good thing - I'm sure that feeling of covetousness will come back again soon! You have great style. I hope to get to a place where I don't see something I want every single day.

I always get bored mid season. To keep myself interested I start looking at outfit ideas for the season I am not in, this way when I shop for new items, I have ideas in mind of what is new that I want to try. Also a small cheaper item in a trendier style or print may shake up your wardrobe.

Actually, I was only thinking this week that there is nothing I really, really wanted or needed. And I have been feeling envious of all the lovely winter boots the NH YLF cohort have been sporting, which is crazy because I love summer!

Be patient and wait for fab stuff to reappear. Promise you'll be excited again

Hello! I've missed you 'round here - have you been on holidays? Happy New Year!

Yes, I can totally get where you are coming from. I can say that I'm loving looking at your WiW posts this summer, because you inspire me to put some effort into my look as well. They most certainly don't look boring to me, even if they feel that way to you!

If it is anything like how I'm feeling at the moment, I'd say you quite possibly are feeling the post Christmas blues just a little and are also at that point where your summer wardrobe has had a workout for quite some time now and you are ready to try new things. My post Christmas budget is also rather tight and this takes a little fun out of things. <sigh> Oh well. Know at least you aren't alone!

The other thing I'm finding a tad wearying is that I'm loving reading the 70's thread, but I'm thinking the trends I'd personally love to try, like wide legged pants, pussy cat bow shirts etc are just not practical to wear this time of year. I'm finding it quite frustrating that I'm going to have to wait another 4 - 5 months before I can even consider trying them (or the trends arrive in the shops)! Arrrrrrrrrgh. Still, I'm sure I'll have renewed vigour in a couple of weeks when life really, truly returns to normal for me. (Whatever that may be! ;-))

Could it be the mid-season blues? Usually around this time of the year, I start to get bored with wearing the same winter clothes. Thankfully, our weather has been very cooperative this year so I could wear my fall clothes way into December and am barely starting to bring out the big sweaters.

Congratulations - I think you may have just found your style! :)
I find that I sometimes get overwhelmed when I'm looking for inspiration in magazines, because i then think that I need to buy so many new pieces in order to achieve the look that I like. That drives me crazy, so I end up just not looking anymore, and rely on what's in stores and in my head and what I've 'accidentally' seen somewhere.

That said, my style is only in the beginning of the evolution stage, and fashion magazines are probably a good place for me to look. But I find it hard to apply what I see to my wardrobe, and I end up wanting too many things without a clear idea how I could make them work with other pieces I already own. Sigh. I'm still learning.

In recent times I have felt relatively comfortable in most things I am wearing and I feel my style has evolved to a point that I dont feel the need to keep looking at what's in and what's out to determine where my next purchase is coming from. I still read the magazines and see the all the pretty things they're advertising but nothing excites me. I dont know if it's just a case of nothing on trend appeals to me or if I'm heading towards getting stuck in a rut of wearing the same things over and over. Maybe I'm over thinking this (perhaps inspired by too much sugar over the Festive Season) but I'd love to hear your thoughts on this and if it's happened to you!
