I didn't do anything too unusual last winter. I did buy two cashmere sweaters, one crew neck and one V-neck. One in navy, one in fuchsia. It seems that interesting sweaters and few and far between!

I live in thin merino wool sweaters in the winter ... warm but not bulky under outerwear. Not sure if Banana Republic is accessible in Australia, but that's pretty much where I get all mine.

Hope today's a better day; I love your self-compassionate attitude! Hope you had a great rest.

I find sweaters troublesome, too. I'll be interested to hear about/see any finds you come up with. I sometimes feel my sweaters are dated, but I can't really cope with anything too long or voluminous, so that is a limiting factor.

Thanks guys!! I think I'm just going to have to see what the shops have to offer! Have returned to normal energy levels so hopefully will have the stamina to shop (for those who don't know me I'm usually the sort who'd rather go for a run than shop)

In terms of what is fashionable - I actually think anything goes. There are some cropped looks, some loose weave knits, long cardigans, short cardigans, sweatshirts, fine knits etc...long and oversized or body con.

For me I need to make sure the sweater works with my favourite jeans and winter shoes - which I find easier with higher rise jeans.

I am keeping my eye open for a second new winter sweater as my collection of knits is not that large (entire collection is below). The baggy navy one is now really loungewear, or work from home with a big scarf material, the thrifted leopard cardigan is getting quite worn as is the basic black one.

Sweaters.. hm.. I'm thinking mock necks, rib, short/long hems (what is the name for this again?), light blue, earth tones, esp. beiges, the classics like bretons, fuzzy and texture rich. Autumn/winter fahsion are so much more interesting!

I was all about the sweatshirt last winter. That, and cashmere sweaters. Nothing terribly interesting - the usual standbys.

One thing I wore a lot this past winter is a long, slightly oversized sweater with leggings or slim/skinny pants.

And I don't know if you can call that fashionable, but large cowl necks in soft materials are so comfortable when it's cold out. Perfect Netflix attire.

I might not be able to help with the chunky jumpers (it's not a style I wear much, because of my need for waist definition) but this is an example of the sort of longline hoody that I've seen:
https://www.sweatybetty.com/sh.....yMarl.html

I've seen companies like Athleta do similar versions too, though I'll be the first to admit that I didn't pay too much attention to specifics because I can't ship those brands here lol.

Pullovers generally seemed trending this winter: fitted, classic and sporty styles alike. Mostly crew necks like the ones Sal and Bijou showed, and other high necklines like boat, mock turtle and true turtleneck... some nineties styles that I have poison eye for in wild prints and that velourish yarn (not sure how it's called!) ;).

Zaeobi, I am not sure. Most years I buy one pullover jumper that's a stand alone piece and I rely on it as a fashion update and would typically wear it 3 data a week. Most have tended towards long and relatively chunky, but because it's a fashion refresher I don't want to be too prescriptive.
I may also buy a fitted, probably turtleneck sweater that would function more as a top and have also been thinking of getting a fitted athletic zipped jacket (so yes, athleisure) So the pullover would be different from these.

PS I kind of like the idea of a long line hoodie too, Zaeobi!

I believe it's not just for cardigans, but that longline jumpers are in too - I've even seen longer length hoodies selling out too. Otherwise the athleisure look is still going strong, but I don't know how much of a big chunky jumper sort of gal you are (VS more fitted styles)?

Thanks Sal, pink is lovely.

Rachy and Joy, both mentioned cardigans. I keep forgetting that 'sweater' includes cardigans because I use it as equivalent in my mind to what we call 'jumpers', ie pullovers. Will amend my original message. However it was funny Joy, that you mentioned a long grey cardigan, because I bought one two years ago and I can't find it (so annoying) and have seriously been thinking of buying a replacement.

Bijou. A very pretty colour! Like the literary angle too.

If you do not have many clothes, a warm cardigan may be your best choice if you can wear it over less warm pieces that you have. To me the most current are the long cardigans. My most worn this past winter was a long medium grey cardigan. Probably tied for next place we’re long rust and a dark pine green, both long inexpensive cardigans that had pockets. All were blends with wool.

My sweater this year was a brown grandpa cardigan with black animal print... big cat sorta thing. I also got a heavy deep winter jumper in a dark blue... also a black abstract print. Print isn’t quite the word... it’s textured.

I am wearing this pink Ezibuy sweater a lot- it is a tailored fit on me similar to the model. I like a sweater that is not too chunky and would rather layer with a jacket or thermals and a scarf.

Having a no energy day! No planned run is going to happen. Had breakfast and went back to bed (not a work day). Need to go out for food shop fairly soon.

Anyway,I have these days every so often and am usually fine the next day. Am gearing up to finally do my first clothes shop since Jan. Planned for Thursday.

Lots of restrictions eased in my part of Australia. I have a voucher from Myer, a department store here, and top on my list is casual sneakers.

Being an underbuyer is starting to show with clothes wearing out, so there's other stuff to get too.

What styles of pullover sweaters are in (you guys have just had winter)? I feel like I don't have a handle on the fashions this year.
