Yup - I am getting better, too. I think I am just becoming more confident about my judgement. If a purchase FEELS like a mistake on the first wear, it IS a mistake. So I return it (if that's still possible) or cull it!

I just finished my cull, and remember how we talked about having a "holding bin" for the "maybe" things?

YEAH RIGHT.

I tried them all on in front of a non-skinny mirror and NOTHING went into the maybe bin.

I am too fabulous to wear maybes. *tosses hair like a diva* ... lol.

yep - just this year I've purged things that are less than a year old for the first time. Some never worn because of fit issues, like you mentioned. A couple I tried some home alterations on, knowing if I blew it, they'd be tossed anyway. 2 such items made it in the bin just yesterday actually

I am much better the past 2-3 years. I get rid of anything, clothing or household items, that don't get used, suit us, are just shoved in a closet or drawer, etc. No point in having a bunch of unused stuff, no matter the price or brand. And I try to never think of maybe I'll use it one day. I think if I'm not using it now, why would I be using it later?

Thrifted a pair of purple flats a few weeks ago. Wore them for the first time this week and they were too tight on the toes - they went straight off my feet and into the 'to-donate' bag. I think I've pulled out several other items recently. Somehow it feels much easier than it used to be.

I was thinking about Lyn's recent thread on this topic and I've always been willing to toss because of quality or lack of fit, but not in a "it just doesn't suit me / suit me anymore" way. I think I'm getting better, maybe because I'm narrowing in on my style a bit. Also, some of my supposed 'practicality' is fading - I keep a lot of things just in case, but everything I keep has to be stored or cared for somehow, so it's not a zero-sum game. I'm finally getting that through my hard head. (Just don't ask me about my book collection - yet.)
