I did the Spring Challenge and really enjoyed it! It was fun to have someone else guide me on what to wear for awhile.. I had most items on her list and only bought a few like an aztec print top. It is easily adaptable for anyone's style.. If she recommends shorts and you don't wear them, then subsitute a bottom you like...
The Facebook page for challenge participants was great and women shared their shopping finds as well as pictures of their starting pieces... It was neat to see how varied everyone was in putting the ideas together. Alison has improved her challenges as more working mother's asked for work options. I would absolutely do another challenge.

Torontogirl, have you gotten a chance to look at the fall capsule? Does it seem worth the price? I noticed that they offer a free capsule - the spring 2014 one - if you sign up for their mailing list, so I did that and have been playing around with it. Basically you get a shopping list, some recommended sources for said items (obviously more useful if you're doing a challenge live) and then each day's outfits with additional thoughts for tweaking. (And a Pinterest board, etc., and if you're doing it live, a Facebook discussion group etc.)

The spring 2014 capsule is so warm-weather oriented I'd call it a summer capsule myself - I don't know a lot of people who are comfortable in tank tops, white jeans and sandals throughout most of spring. It's definitely denim-oriented and for someone who doesn't need to worry about business wear, even business casual. I can see how it would be really great for MsOTG who are busy and want to mix things up a little without having to spend a lot of time thinking about it. (They also have a fall 2014 workwear challenge from earlier this fall which I presume goes more toward the business end of dressing.)

It's basically a more detailed version of the 15 for 30 challenges Cabi used to put on their blog, with items from a variety of retailers.

Interesting idea. The seasons are all wrong so it wouldn't work for me, but wouldn't it be funny if you went to work and someone else there was doing the same challenge and you were both wearing the same thing! Oops.

This looks interesting but I am wondering how it translates to varying styles. It looks a little to prescriptive to work for me :) The little bit of the lists she shows has nothing on it apart from skinny jeans that I would want to wear. I do think this could work really well though if your style is aligned with her preferences. Good luck, I will follow with great interest.

My lifestyle is far too unpredictable to use this approach to dressing, but I can see it's appeal to women who, for example, work a lot of hours and want to look good everyday with minimal fuss.

Look forward to finding out what you learn!

Although it is interesting, it only makes me appreciate even more Angie's advice which is spot on and for free on this site. You cannot get that anywhere else! Thank you, Angie!

Laura, just saw the fall one on for 14.99 ... am going to try it and just adjust for weather as needed. Figure it's the same price as if I went out for a glass of wine ... which I never do ... this is how I justify things ...

Laura, agreed, if it was Angie-approved, I'd do it for sure! I am going to look a little more looking on the GYPO pinterest and facebook and see what sort of looks they put together ... I already like that they seem to use "accessible" clothing choices for the 'budgetarily restrained'

I have enjoyed reading their challenge participants and seeing their outfit creations.

I started my own challenge recently. Since I've had a busy and stressful fall at work, I started picking out 5 outfits on Sunday night. Then, as I am a very moody dressier, I've forced myself to wear them as chosen and hung in the closet in a row without argument or reconsideration. After a few weeks of this, and being quite efficient, happy and fuss-free every day, my work load has lightened so I failed to pick my 5 on Sunday. Huge mistake! The first 3 days I felt either frumpy, dull or mismatched. Ugh! What a lesson! I immediately went back to the 5-outfits-in-the-line plan.

Taking from that, I highly recommend any challenge plan designed to lessen daily struggles with picking what to wear, whether self defined or taken from a blog or Pinterest-inspired. Have fun, and go for it!

Torontogirl, that could be fun! I was thinking about maybe buying the fall challenge instead of the winter one currently in progress, since it's already started. But fall might be not warm enough for your climate.

I should have said in my original message that I wish Angie would do something Iike this - I'd happily pay a few bucks to YLF for a few weeks of wardrobe ideas similar to what Get Your Pretty On appears to be providing. We've got the forum here at YLF for sharing and community, I just want a break from coming up with a variety of outfits all the time!

http://getyourprettyon.com/sty.....hallenges/

Anyone done any of the Get Your Pretty On challenges? I am thinking about January upcoming and how I really want to spend less time worrying about clothes for a while - ok, let me rephrase, it's not that I want to necessarily, it's that I'll have several important projects going and I'll need to spend my time differently.

It looks like you subscribe and get a shopping list and then a list of outfits for however long the challenge goes that are mix and match from the list. I suspect that I can shop from my closet for most of the items, it'd just be nice not to have to come up with something new every day.

There used to be some blogs that posted suggestions for what to wear for the month, but I don't think I'm aware of any still doing it. If anyone knows of any that do, I'd love pointers to that as well.
