Because every day is some version of merino wool layers and XC outerwear. And then sweatpants in the evenings. Our Nordic ski center opened the day after Thanksgiving, and I think my daily pass scan count will be 64 today!</p> <p>I will keep an eye out for the Pata Air - I have two older generations of Nanos and love them. It was when I got hired to lead preschool nature walks and teach at a weekly outdoor school program a few years ago that I started upping my game.&nbsp;</p> <p>Suntiger -- I *love* toggle coats, and for a long time had one as my primary winter coat, but zippers are so much better at blocking the wind. I'd love a new wool duffle coat for milder around-town days.&nbsp;</p> <p>Robin F -- I'm not a winter person by nature, so having the right gear makes a big difference in whether or not I'll get outside during the colder months.</p> <p>Liesbeth -- Those boots are gorgeous and practical!</p> <p>Janet -- Yes, I'm really enjoying having some days with the flexibility to go out for short jaunts, so good for mental and physical health.&nbsp;</p> <p>Ledonna -- Kids amaze me! If gear counts as basics, I’ve been in NBB (Nothing But Basics) since our last big snowfall a few days ago, as most of my free time has been spent XC skiing or snowshoeing — or shoveling out! I wear the same thing for all three activities: silk base layers, micro fleece quarter zip, softshell pants, this amazing Patagonia Nano Air (super breathable puffy), plus wind jacket or waterproof shell, accessories as as needed, and boots. I’ll get in trouble saying this on a style forum, but I basically roll from loungewear into gear and back again these days. </p> <p>Hair-wise, I have a few leftover bangs that I can’t quite get up into the bun yet, but I’ve been using my merino Buff as a headband/ear-warmer to keep them out of my face. People with long hair — how do you keep it from getting caught in zippers when you wear it down?! </p>
