I just saw that Denver is supposed to get at least 2 inches of new snow accumulation this coming week.<br /> We had a landscaper out that said that iris with variegated leaves do not need to be divided. We need a planting plan plus something to improve curb appeal where former owners tore everything out to let their cats play in mulch. Some things are blooming in the neighborhood including lilacs and iris. We have had some very warm days and a few cooler, cloudier days. Camellias, cherry blossoms, apple blossoms, lilacs etc. all finished. Rhododendrons on their way out. So far I only have the herbs: parsley and mint are doing well, basil is trying to come back after an aphid attack. They were so bad they were also flying around our home! <br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Plans for summer: A hanging tomato plant on the balcony, possibly with basil or other companion plant, lavender to go along with the rosemary on the bedroom sill (rosemary is in a big red pot, training to be a mini Christmas tree). I want to get Jasmine for the bedroom too, if it'll have enough light. For the living room: aloe and Venus fly trap, useful succulents.</div><div><br /></div><div>I'm jealous of your irises, have fantasies of growing them in the bathroom/shower, but they wouldn't get enough light &amp; we'd all be sad. We had some basic old fashioned bearded iris in both purple and yellow when we bought our house. We bought the pink one, but all the others were given to us by a friend who thinned out her iris garden. We did get a sunny weekend and I spent my days out of doors expanding the island garden around our magnolia (#1 work in progress.)</p> <p>JAileen, Iris are so rewarding, arn't they? My clumps expand like mad and reward me every spring, though the tall ones get knocked down easily or succumb to the weight of their blooms! #2 shows the status of the Iris.
