These look terrific! WOW! They still look snug though - although really good! I found they run very small. My clients have been sizing up big time on the Gap skimmers.

Wow ladies! I am overwhelmed by the responses and good advice. This forum really should be called ' You ARE Fab'!
I'm waiting to see you style yours Tina. A challenge from one Tina to another:-)
Shannon, I did think about that for the pockets. I'm a bit of a seamstress myself ( ironic how the woed 'stress' is contained within the word:-/), so I could probably manage this on my own. I'm intrigued by your comment on them possibly being made to look elegant and edgy. Thanks for the link:-).

Tina - I think the fit is great for a slim fitting pant and if you have any concerns about the pockets, you can actually have a seamstress/tailor remove the pocket lining and stich the opening flat. I've had that done on a couple pairs of trousers that had that type of pocket and it worked brilliantly - no bunching and a slim silhouette!

I think camo can actually be really elegant and edgy when paired with great tunic tops, dressier blazers and heels, etc. Here's Angie's blog post about camo http://youlookfab.com/2013/01/.....ay-or-nay/ for some inspiration.

I have also debated if this is the right "look" for me but I'm dressing them down with plain tops in neutral colors. Just because I am a MOTG, there's no reason why I can't dress with a bit of an edge. That said, I don't wear them to the office.

Thanks to Kristin and missvee for the vote of confidence.
Ceit, I hadn't thought of Old Navy, I will check those out. I have no doubt you will wear yours well.
Zapotee, I appreciate the thought process behind whether or not the camo pants will work for me. I have thought about this and I just am not sure. I am generally a plain dresser. After seeing Atlantic Pacific posts with camo I thought it may be one way to add interest. Now I' m not sure if I should push myself out of my comfort zone or if these just don't work.
Thanks Suz! You always have sage advice. These are not skimmer jeggings but rather the skinny skimmer jean. They are not thick but also not super thin and stretchy. They are very comfy. The inside is white so I don't know if it would look right to roll them up if I wanted to. The 25's fit like they do on the models but I wanted a bit of room and the 26's give me that without being too loose.

They look really good in the pics, Tina, especially if you are going for a looser tailored fit. I also think you can definitely wear them as a 42 year old mom! In fact, you are tempting me to try a pair and I don't even like camp very much....

But I'm also hesitant because if the fabric is as light and stretchy as I suspect it is, I don't know how these will look after a couple of wears, and on ME, anyway, this kind of fabric never looks as great sized up as I hope it will -- I end up with what seems like elephant skin rather than draping fabric. That might be because I haven't sized up enough (though one would think 2 sizes up would do it). Or it might be because of the shape of my legs (muscular, so the fabric always finds a place to cling even if it is loose.) Anyway, those are my reservations -- more about me than you. If I tried them on myself I might get a better sense -- these may not be the super stretchy fabric I'm imagining they are. I saw some skimmers in our local Gap (not the camo ones) and that is what they seemed to be made of. But I might have misjudged.

Ok, fit wise, I think they are nice. I do see what Marley is talking about with the side pockets and if they open, perhaps you need to size up more. For these pants, I would personally like to see a roomier fit, but they look great as is too.

As far as camo, I think it boils down to who you are. For instance, yesterday I posted about a tux vest with frayed sleeves that I bought. The frayed sleeves are a statement, for sure. The vest fits right and looks good, frayed sleeves and all. The question is, does it look like me? Can I look confident in it? I think the same thing applies to camo pants. They are something I would never be able to pull off because you need a certain personality and ruggedness to make them believable. I always consider whether something looks believable on me before I keep it. Fit alone does not cut it sometimes.

I'm not taken with the oversized, baggy pants trend, so take my comments with a grain of salt, but I think they look great on you just as you've styled them with the tee and the lilac blazer. I would not have thought to pair lilac with camo but it's a great combination.

Thanks so much Marley! I really need to consider how I will wear them, what you say makes perfect sense. I did not try these in a larger size, I did try the 25. They felt better around the waist, I need to really cinch my belt so these don't twist and turn when I move. I don't like the feel of too loose jeans on me. I like the look and I may try it sometime but it annoys me when my clothes shift and move at the waist. I am not even close to any shopping geographically, so this is all online ordering (and returning:-/).

Tina - no, I don't really see pockets gaping in the first pic - I think the length of your jacket is covering them up a bit. Its just that I've seen these pants in person - and have also seen them on several different people, and because of those side pockets, you're never going to get a real *skinny* look. For example, if you are thinking that you want to wear a tunic length top with these pants - those pockets are going to keep your "look" from being sleek - there will probably be a "bump" or "wrinkle" under your tunic from where those pockets are located.

However, even though I have a "hang-up" about those pockets - I think these pants look really good on you - and are totally appropriate for a 42 year old MOTG! And, they are a great option for a slim pair of pants that aren't too tight. I'm curious, did you try them in one size larger? And if so, what did you think?

I'm thinking about buying them in khaki and then scrunching them up so that they fall just an inch or two below my knee. However, I am going to size up a couple of sizes - I usually wear a 0 or 2 at GAP - and when I tried them on, I was debating between a 6 and an 8. Because I'm planning to wear them more slouchy, the pockets don't bother me - but I know they would if I was going to wear my true size.

Marley, do you see pockets gaping in the first pic? It seems as though I need to post better pics. You are right, I am not looking for slouchy skinnies, just slim pants that aren't too tight.

Oh - I guess I should read the other comments first! LOL OK - if you want an actual skinny pant, then I think I'd look for a pair that doesn't have those side pockets - because no matter what size you go with, those pockets are going to gap - which (to me) seems like that is a "slouchy skinny" look, rather than a regular skinny. As far as tops go - it looks like your sorted out with the A-P pics!

Its kind of tough to tell from the angle of your camera just exactly how they fit on you - but from what I can see, I think I would try sizing up one size in order to get a slouchier (more modern) look.

There are so many great examples out there. I like pairing camo with white, chambray, gray, or black.

Here are some ideas from A-P - this shows all posts with the tag, camo, but you can scroll down to see what she pairs with her skinnies, in particular:

Day Vies- Thank you for your input. You have me pondering. I see what you mean about the color of the jacket, I was trying different pieces with it and happened to be wearing this ( it's actually lilac) jacket when I snapped the pics. Per the fit, I wasn't after slouchy skinnies, I was speaking of generally following Angie's advice of sizing up on fits that are meant to be tight.

Kristin- thanks for the thumbs up! See above for why I sized up.

Day Vies comment about the light with the camo has me thinking about what to pair with these pants. I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions.

I think they look fantastic. Wear with confidence! Was there a particular reason you sized up? Anyway, they look great and you should keep. BTW, I'm a 40-year-old MOTG and I have a pair!

IDK -- they look pretty slim fitting. Not that it's a bad thing because the fit is so spot on. What's bothering me is that the perfect fit and pink jacket are so at odds to with ruggedness I associate with camo print. I was thinking slouchier when you said Angie advised you to size up. I usually have to size up 2 sizes in slim cuts. Not sure if that will work for you or if this was the look you were going for.

I just received my skimmers and am wondering if these are keepers. Gap jeans always stretch (that has been my experience) so I'm not sure about the fit of these. They are very comfortable and I like them. These pics were taken after 30 minutes of wear and they are much the same 2 hours later . My reservations are the stretch factor and whether or not they are appropriate for a 42 year old MOTG.
For review purposes, these are a 26 and I normally take a 25. I took Angie's advice and sized up for a looser fit.
What say you?
A. Yes they are fine, wear with confidence
B. What were you thinking, you should return
