Diana looks amazing in her teal peplum top too.

YES. I love that greenish wash, Tanya. It's different, and almost sea foam. I would have bought the stye in white too - but they were ripped.

Thank you for your input, Diana and Meredith!

Diana, that is a center seam on the lilac too. I really like the color, but can probably do better interns of cut and fit. As for the silk top, it is little shorter than white one, and also I appears shot because of my long torso.

Glad you like the peplum, you should definitively check it out. It also comes in black and shimmery charcoal (attached in finds). It has a dramatic exposed zipper down the whole back and the material is very nice: lots of rayon instead if usually polyester for scuba. Thank you for all the styling photos too, that helps a lot!

I agree with Angie, the jeans and the peplum top are killer and the white top is nice too. I am not wild about the lilac one, but I think it might just be that line down the front (is it a crease? or a seam?) because I have poison eye for center front seams. The crop top seems a little too cropped, or else maybe not cropped enough? But again I am not wild about that silhouette (high waisted pants with cropped top) so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

The peplum is very similar to my green one! (I think you mentioned that when I wore it last week.) I might have to go check out the other colors at H&M - I need a peplum with no waist seam like this one and they are rare. I find mine surprisingly versatile. It seems to go with most pants and even a lot of skirts, just so long as they don't have too much volume at the waist or hip. Basically nothing that would cause the peplum to stick out funny. I really like mine with my black dress trousers - BR calls them "straight leg" but they look more like loose bootcuts on me - and with my distressed BF jeans. Here's some ways I have styled it - with the trousers (1), with the suit (2, same trousers as 1), with BFs (3), with flares (4), and with a lightweight skirt (5).

Thank you very much for your input in rolling the jeans, Suz and Angie. I will choose what to do based on the footwear. Angie, your Arizona outfit is gorgeous. We would have been complete twins if the blouse worked for me. I did not realize that you got the jeans in this wash.

Thank you for feedback on the tops, too. The peplum top is my favorite of the bunch, it is. A shape that works well with my body type. I will take the silk tee and boxy sweatshirt back. I do like them, but seeng the photos I can say that they are not 10s and I really have to make each new piece count this season.

*waving at my jeans twin*

I LOVE those cropped Slim Straights Tanya, WOW. (I have the exact same pair). Super comfy. I wear the no-roll with ankle strap footwear only - (you know me and my complicated relationship with cropped pants). For example, I will be wearing the combination below in Arizona later in the month where it will be very hot.

I will wear the rolled hem versions with white loafers, black pointy toe ballet flats, and slipper flats.

I LOVE THAT PEPLUM TOP in #5. Absolutely killer with the jeans.

I love the white cropped lace top too. Perfect.

The other tops stand out less - and may I suggest that you return them seeing as your budget is very tight. Hold out for more killer pieces.

I agree with the others about roll vs. no roll. Both work -- just depends on your footwear and the general look you want to get across.

Love the new tops! They all look great. I am not sure what to suggest about belts and bottoms -- I would try playing around a bit. I tend to prefer filled belt loops if the loops are going to be visible, but the this also depends a lot on the other elements of the outfit.

Looks like a great haul!

-I think both rolled and unrolled work. I usually choose based on what shoes I'm wearing and things like the heel, the shape of the toe (pointed or rounded) and how casual I'm going for and try both.

-for cropped boxy tops I prefer no belt if I'm wanting to emphasize a high-waisted jean look. Sometimes I need a belt to either keep them up or tie in another color in the outfit, in that case I usually wear a regular (wider) belt and the effect is to slightly reduce the high rise look. I don't find that tops get caught on it though.

-I think the peplum and belted loose top could work with all three kinds of jeans, but probably works best with jeans that are body con through the thighs - either skinny or flare or straight that hug the thighs. (Although the peplum could work with wider leg trousers maybe too?). I think the peplum would look particularly awesome with flares.

I like the jeans both with and without the roll. I'd probably wear them with a roll with flats, and without a roll with heels.

I always prefer belt loops filled, but in this case it might be a problem with a cropped top - the top might get caught on the buckle. I'd be tempted to leave off the belt.

The tops in #4 and #6 look great with the Res Straights you're wearing, so I'd say skinnies or slim straights, but then I think they'd look good with a pair of fitted flares too. I personally wouldn't wear a pant with too much volume with these styles of tops.

Looks like you had a very successful shopping trip!

Rather than answering your questions, I will just say that you look fantastic in your new purchases. In particular, I love the peplum top. I think I like the jeans without the roll. I am pretty hopeless with belt advice though.

I am not shopping much this season, and here are my first purchases. I am generally pretty happy about them, but please mention if you think something should go back. I am focusing mainly on tops, of three types: cropped&boxy, waist defining and 70s blouses.

Earlier today I got Gap Resolution straight jeans in pale wash that Angie raved about on the forum. These are to replace my pale COH skinnies that ripped fairly soon after I purchased them. I had them fixed, only to have them rip again. You can see the Gap jeans in all of these photos. The new tops are:
in #1- cropped boxy BR tee with lace sleeves
in #2- lilac boxy scuba H&M top
in #3- cropped patterned silk tee
in #4&# 5 - H&M asymmetric teal scuba peplum top with a flounce
I also got a skinny Loft belt in pale seafoam (#6) to wear over loose tops. The color matches my pale blue moto.

I have a couple questions though:
1. The jeans are cropped at the ankle, so do you prefer them trolled or unrolled?
2. For cropped boxy tops (1-3) worn with high waisted bottoms, do you prefer the belt loops empty, a skinny belt or a wider belt?
3. What kind of pant/jean shape does a waist defining top like the peplum (4,5) work best with? Skinny, straight, or something flared?
4. Same question for loose belted tops like in #6?

Thank you very much!
