I like my normal size in the pants but didn't want them to fit like leggings. The pants stretch a bit on me but the jeans don't.

Sort of late to answer, but wanted to say I have several Gap styles and wear my normal size in each. Hope that helps.

Thanks for all your suggestions guys I think I will try my regular size first and depending on how snug they are/how much they stretch out, I will either size up or down. I can't afford to order a lot of different sizes and sadly these aren't available in store.

I have a pair of these in my regular size but am thinking of sizing up for a slightly more generous look; they are a bit legging-like when they first come out of the wash for my taste. (The pants, not the jeans).

Like VC, I also sized up so that they didn't look too much like a legging on me. I LOVE mine. When I gained weight, they were the first pants that I replaced. I own the jeans and the black pairs.

In Gap jeans I generally size down. That said, for the GAP Really Skinny pants, I actually sized up, because I wanted to be able to wear these with flat boots with the pants on the outside of the boots, if that makes sense? Plus, I didn't want super-tight pants. Long story short, the GAP Really Skinny pants (not jeans, but the pants that come in black, grey etc.) are definitely skinny enough, and it's possible that you might want to size up to get a tiny bit more wear out of them. Meanwhile, even sizing up in their Really Skinny pants, I didn't find the waist to be too big, and I also didn't find them stretching out as much as their jeans do.

Hope this helps. If jeans, size down for sure. If you're talking about the Really Skinny pants, then it depends on what you want to wear them with. If only for long, long tunics and such, you can stick to your regular size or even size down, but if you want them to be a bit more functional with all kinds of outfits, I'd size up. They aren't going to look baggy, by any means.

I have a pair in my regular size and one in a size down. I'm more comfortable in the regular size at the moment, but they do stretch out a little bit.

I just tried on a pair of Gap skinny jeans (red plaid!) and the ones that fit me were three sizes smaller than the size I usually wear in other brands. That's some serious vanity sizing! I'd size down.

I ordered my true size and am really happy with them. They are comfortable and don't bag out at the knee (which I worried about). I should also tell you that I tired on at least five pairs before I found the pair I purchased (all the same size).

I agree with Tyler Ann. If you can, purchase several pair (different sizes or the same size) and try them on. You will be pleasantly surprised.

Since they are offering free shipping on orders over $50, can you order two sizes and return what doesn't fit in store? That being said, my experience with Gap jeans is that they stretch out quite a bit. I can't fit into a size 2 in the store, but the size fours I've purchased stretch out enough to look bad after one wear I bought them last year, so maybe they're different now.

Those of you who own these pants, did you order your regular size or size down? I'm planning to order these online so just thought I'd check.
