Tell me about it! The lady instore told me to size down because they are cut very big and do bag out!

I did try on the 30, but it was def. too big. My regular jeans size is 30 or 31 so it is all too confusing for me!!!!

ETA the numbers per se don't concern me so much. Just becomes an issue if I decide to order online if another great coupon becomes available.

Tam,
The coupons come out for every Wednesday in February, plus March 2nd. I"m not sure if it would be worth it for you to order and pay shipping, but you can get them for 40% off of $60. I forget who posted the link to the coupon today, but I think it was a coupon that came to her e-mail.

Yes Maya they list them by waist inches only I think. Which is even more confusing because when you look at the sizing chart that MPJ posted the waist inch sizing and the actual waist measurement do not match up.

All up I am pretty sure that the 29 I tried on would be an 8 (which actually has a 28 waist)...that fits in with the sizing down rule since I am usually a US 10.

Now I'm a little confused about the leg length. I thought I was trying on a tall instore, but I think I was just trying on a regular with a long inseam, rather than a tall with a x-long inseam (those are the online options). I can't remember exactly but I think the tag said "long" so I'm hoping that's right!!

Gap is the same - well, not online, but the tag (and I think waistband) lists the US size and waist equivalent.

26=2
27=4
28=6
29=8

Not sure after that - those are just the ones I remember seeing.

ETA Here is the size chart: http://www.gap.com/browse/sizeChart.do?cid=49373

Yours are listed by waist size Tam? Wow, that's so much better than even numbers. Sorry I'm no help, I just thought that was interesting.

FWIW, I wear a 8 UK/AU and a 26 waist.

Thanks for the advice, sorry I took so long in coming back. Liss to answer your questions yes there is a store at Chaddy, and yes they had both regular and tall length. Tall length work perfect for me with flats but do have a hem that could be taken down if you wanted to wear them with heels.

After seeing Kim's post I am liking the idea of a medium wash more. They look more casual and also would be more different to my existing trouser jeans. I can't remember what light washes they had at Chaddy, so I may have to go back.

However I'm thinking of ordering online anyway, since they are selling for $100 instore and $50US online....and our currencies are equivalent. What a difference hey!!!

I'm confusing how the sizing works though....what would the US size equivalent of a 29 be? 10? 12????

I like them Tam, I think they have a different look to your trouser jeans. The gap ones are more fitted through the thigh and then flare out. Do they come in lighter washes?

Hmmm. I haven't tried them yet, but the reviews indicate they do stretch. The 29s look good and it sounds like they're the most comfortable, but it depends on how much space you've got around the bum and thighs.

I like the trouser jeans you posted, but I think they're different enough from the L&Ls that you wouldn't be duplicating.

For me, the fit was different between the 2 washes. I am usually a 29 and in the darker wash the 29 fit perfectly in the store, but the SA advised to size down so I bought the 28.

Tam, I think Angie advocates a roomier fit on these so I would go with 29. I don't know how much they stretch though...
I think they are pretty similar to the trouser jeans you have.

So I was at Chaddy today and thought I'd sneak into Gap and see if they had the Long & Lean jeans that have been sported about on the forum. Guess what - they did! They even had tall lengths too - yay!

For those that have them, do they stretch out? Enough to size down??

I've tried on 2 different sizes but don't know which one to get...can't believe I am posting pics of my appley muffin top, but here they are!! Also its hard to tell but they are 2 different washes. The 29 is a drak rinse, the 28 is a bit lighter and has some fading/whiskering on the front. My regular size is 30/31, so these were both sizing down for me.

1) & 2) The 29 felt comfy and had a teeny bit of room to move even on the waistband. They were tightest around the waist (yup I'm an apple) with a bit of space around the bum and thighs.

3) & 4) The 28s felt like they were glued onto my waist, bum & thighs. I could still bend over and sit down though, as the denim is so soft. But how much will they stretch out??

Also I'm wondering if these look too similar to the BR trouser jeans I bought last year. Should I just stick with the pair I have?

http://www.flickr.com/photos/y.....225256166/

I've tried searching through forum threads but can't find the posts that I know exist about this question already. Sorry to repeat!
