I don't own a pair of L&L but I guess I'm in the minority with Angie in that I like the looser fit in this style, especially with a light wash. Since you're after the darker wash, I'll leave you to the advice of the other ladies. I've got another pair of jeans in a different cut but similar material, and they didn't stretch TOO much; I did size down in them.

I called the store and had them hold the next size down for me. I'll go get them tomorrow and wear them around the house. I guess that's the only way I'll know for sure!

I just bought some Gap jeans thrifted. I find that the same jean in the same size and wash fits differently one from the other. Gap should be more conscious of quality control. Even so, I like my Gap jeans a lot and wear them frequently. 1 pair definitely stretches out more than the other (same make) pair.

I have the gap L&L 1969 and they do stretch out quite a bit. The fabric is not like the old L&L which I loved. I also find that the seems on the inner leg aren't even. It seems as though one panel was stretched when they were sewn so they don't quite sit flat and I have to stretch the back of the leg when ironing them to even them out. I still wear them and I like them but I don't love them like the old ones.

I was shopping with a friend recently and she tried on about 5 pairs in the same size and a few were too tight and a few were way too loose. There was at least a size difference and they were the same size on the label and the same wash.

This said, I own a pair of Gap Always Skinny 1969 of which I am most happy. I bought them in store in March. True, the fabric is thinner, but that's what I wanted from skinnies, esp. in the summer. They did stretch a little bit with wear but really not beyond my expectations.

The waist did however stretch more than the rest, and more than with other jeans, which I imagine could be a problem for some who want to tuck their tee-shirts and not wear any belt. In my case I always wear a longer top with this style.

I did a quick research and found horrible reviews too. Fabric Won't Last ; Not An Improvement ; Not The Same ; Disappointed ; Please Bring Back the Old Long and Lean!!!! ; Changes are not always good ; etc.

From the comments I read, it seems that Gap has come up with a new batch of L&L 1969 in a cheaper, thinner fabric that stretches very fast and even scratches thighs.

What QM said, at least for me. Size down if you want a snug fit.

I'm wearing a pair right now!

Definitely size down.

When I first got mine, I wore them for a week straight to test the stretch out factor. They stretched a bit (remember, size down), but not much after that. I highly recommend them. JUST SIZE DOWN or you WILL be disappointed in the stretch. I made this mistake with my first pair and wisened up with my second and third pair (the second and third pair are the ones I wore for a week straight).

When I tried them on in the store, the 6 fit perfectly. The SA advised me to size down because they would stretch. So I did, and they did.

I find my Gap jeans run a bit big and I purchase them one size smaller than my size in premium denim.

Really? The last time I looked, the L&L's had amazing reviews. I have also blogged about this style.

I LOVE mine and especially love how baggy they are. I only ever tuck in tops with them and belt the look - so baggy works. I also wear them 3 times and like how they loosen up - not too much but just perfectly.

Agreed. They do loosen up a bit, but not as bad as a lot of jeans I've owned. Maybe order your size and one size down and see which one works better, since you can return them right to the store without paying for return shipping.

I love mine, but if I had to do it again, I would size down. They are very flattering but I like a tighter fit in my rear view.

I bought them snug and yes they do relax a bit, but not nearly as bad as some jeans that I have bought. I can wear them 3 times actually before I need to wash them. I suggest ordering them and then leave the tags on while you wear them around your house for a few hours to see what you think.

I tried Gap's L&L Jeans over the weekend and actually really liked how I looked in them. I think I may have even done a happy dance in the fitting room. However, they didn't have my size in the dark rinse that I wanted. So, I decided I'd just order them online. When I looked online, I saw they have terrible reviews, the biggest complaint being the fabric stretching.

For those of you who have these jeans, what has your experience been? Should I go ahead and get them or keep looking?
