I just ran over there at lunch and picked up two pairs of these. The sizing is all over the place. The "6" were too long. 6R was just right in dark wash. 8R fit better in white. In the long and leans I needed the 2A but I didn't end up getting those. The white does seem to be a thinner fabric than the normal denim, which is why I wanted the size up so that it wouldn't be so tight and transparent.

Just an FYI that Gap has been changing the fabrication of many of their jeans. I ordered a pair of highly recommended straight legs, only to find that they had changed the fabric and they would not hold their shape.

You can see that Natalie's do bag out a bit at the knee, esp. when she tucks. I guess it depends how much bag you find acceptable there. Some don't mind it; others want an almost jodphur look to their skinnies.

Personally, I think the Always Skinnies work great with shoes or booties, less well with tall boots. So for spring/ summer wear you might find them perfect. They really do have a lot to recommend them despite the bagging out problem.

By the way, I wash mine and SOMETIMES put them in the dryer. I put them in the dryer about every second time, to shrink them a bit. And I get about two to three wears from them before I feel they must go back in the wash.

ETA: I realize that what I like about them is they fit a little looser on the calf than some of my skinnies. So this is also what I DON'T like about them. It's good when you are wearing shoes and you want a nicely falling scrunch. It's bad when you are tucking.

They are my #1 favorite pair of jeans! And I have tons of different kinds now, but they're the ones i always reach for first. I got a size 4 which is my typical size. They don't really bag out on me, and I machine wash and dry them! I guess I got lucky with my pair!

Rita, I have a pair. But I warn you, the fabrics (not just the washes) and maybe even the cut have changed with each new batch of these jeans, so it is tough to base your shopping on the reviews, even the reviews of in-the-know people like the women at YLF. Because by the time you get to the store, the ones you try may be quite different from the ones that the reviewers are talking about...even though the cut is theoretically the same.

For what it is worth, here is my experience. I tried them on early in the fall and decided the rise was too low for me and they were no good.

Then I went back about a month later during a big sale and tried again and found a pair that I really liked and that fit me well. So I bought them, along with a pair of Real Straights.

The Always Skinny and the Real Straights are different fabrics. The Real Straights have some poly. They have not stretched out. On the other hand, despite hearing from everyone here that they are flattering, I've discovered that I do not wear them as much. I actually prefer the skinnies. I don't like the way the Real Straights FEEL as much as I like the way the skinnies feel.

Having said that...the skinnies DO bag out on me, and they are not the greatest jeans for tucking. I've found that they are great "at home" day jeans for me. If I'm not tucking into boots the line is very nice and at the same time they are super comfy. I never feel constricted in them.

I was wearing them recently when I took a bad fall, right onto my knee on the pavement. I'm fine, but the jeans got a tiny hole in them. And you know what? I was quite sad about that...even though I have other jeans. On the one hand, I was glad because they weren't my premium jeans and I only paid $35 for them, and had already got the CPW down to almost $1. But on the other hand, I feel as if I will miss these jeans if I can't mend them.

So I guess the upshot is I have ambivalent feelings about them. I would not use them as my primary tucking into boots jean. But at the price point, I like them for an every day jean.

@Velma-I was eyeing those CurveID straight legs too. The Gap real straights don't fit my legs at all.

I have a pair of "premium skinny"s from the Gap Oultet, which look like the Always Skinny that I tried on in the normal Gap. I did not size down, as that would have made them excruciatingly tight across my hip bones. They do stretch out some, but I rather like that feature. I can wear them several times (baggy) and then pop them into the wash when I know I'm "going out". I've always dried them in the dryer.

I was also in love with Gap jeans (bought three pairs over the past year and a half), but have ended my infatuation. My two pairs of Perfect Boots both wore out within 12 months--just about to weed out the second pair--although I handled them pretty carefully. My Curvy jeans are still soldiering on, but they are developing small holes and frayed areas. They are also only about a year old.

I wanted the Real Straights to work and have tried them in the store on two occasions, but they seem to run very large in the waist--a real juniors cut. I'd have to have them altered significantly. I'm thinking of buying some Levis Curve ID straight legs instead.

Does anyone else think the rise has gotten lower on the always skinny jeans? I liked my old pairs better than the new ones.

Ops! Sorry to be a downer but I have fallen out of love with GAP jeans altogether. They all aged so badly and stretch out so much now, that not even a wash can save them. I have never put them in the dryer and always washed them inside out.

I admit, I was all excited about them last year. I don't think I will be buying them anymore.

I know others have had luck with them so maybe it is me, who is really hard on her clothes.

I have them and totally agree with amyreh's comments. They fit well, have held their color well, and generally don't stretch too much. I've had mine for quite a while now, and they stretch out more easily than the did in the beginning. I think that's just what age does to stretch jeans, though. Overall, I've been very happy with mine.

Oooh and super fabulous that they're running a 30% off promo!

I like mine, although they do stretch out a little. I can wear mine twice, maybe 3 times before having to wash. I would buy them very snug. I wear a 27/4 typically and that is what I got in these. I really like mine though, very comfy

I absolutely love these jeans. I have them in the denim in two lengths and in the black cotton stretch. I get the a size up so that they are not super tight on the thighs for me and then I have the waist taken in. The reason that I like them so much is that I can wear a shorter top, a tunic, or a dress and they look good.
