I've seen them, they are nice and fairly lightweight. Unfortunately they didn't fit me, so they stayed in the store.

Today I was able to stop by the local store that had my size in stock and tried these on, and really liked them. Reminded me of the Gap of 5 or 10 years ago, actually - very solid construction and thick enough fabric that you didn't have to worry about your bits showing through. Hopefully it's a sign of good things to come!

I needed a tall, so came home and ordered them*. I didn't like the washed ones that much in person so just went for the chambray and the navy ('true indigo'). On me they were semi-fitted through the leg, pretty much as they fit the third model above wearing the chambray version. I could have gone up a size for slouchiness but then the waist would have been loose, and I expect they'll loosen up through the day anyway.

*PSA: they should be 35% off today, but I had to call customer service to get the code to work. Jeans were excluded from the promo so probably some website coder got a little over-assiduous.

I have very large calves and these girlfriend chinos fit me nicely. They are really, really soft, and heavier weight than last year's regular chinos. They feel more similar to last year's Banana Republic chinos, which is a good thing.

The chambray chinos are thinner material and not as soft, but a great color. Feels like a heavy linen.

I just ordered the GAP Girlfriend chinos in two colors. I had GAP cash to use this month, so I decided to try these. I do have two pairs of the J Crew chinos which I like a lot but they do bag out quickly and they are tight around the ankles and get stuck on my calves when I stand up after sitting which is irritating but my calves are curvy.

I just bought two pairs of these at the Phil airport. I bought my reg size but have a feeling they will stretch out a little and be looser fitting with wear (not as skinny looking as in the picture). Sizing down would have been too tight. I'm happy with that; I want easy casual pants. They do not fit, look, or feel quite as narrow in person as they look in those photos, but I really really liked them. Roomy enough for my thighs. Will try to post a picture from warm San Antonio when I land later today.

I got olive (it's a great color) and also a light aqua -- could not resist the call of spring. And they are 35% off today both online and in store.

I'd be curious to try them too. Are they lightweight? I have a feeling I'll be ready for a change this summer, away from wearing Athleta capris as a hot-weather default. I don't want to wear skirts every day, and I've never looked awesome in shorts, sadly. I like the idea of capris but they're not seen as terribly fashionable these days. Sigh. What's a girl who doesn't have fab legs to do in the heat?

Hmm, sounds like they might be a possibility. One of our local stores has the regular length in stock; I might be able to drop by tomorrow and try some on, although I'd probably need to order the talls online.

LP, I haven't had much luck with Gap pants recently either. J Crew, however, is much worse on me - totally wrong shape for my curves. What I'd really like to find is something like the Lands' End chinos from this old The Mom Edit blog post, but they don't sell those exact ones anymore, and the similar ones don't look quite the same and come in a lot of prints that aren't my style.

The chambray pair is really cute.

My experience with Gap pants is that they are cut very straight, not great for curvy hips or muscular legs.

Also, J Crew's chinos have never let me down, though mine are much older, so I can't vouch for the new ones. They do a cropped length, and I keep drooling over all the colors:

I bought them in the olive/army green colour last week. They are pretty short though, so it will be spring before I pull them out ,I expect.

I have not seen the girlfriend chinos in person. I have some GAP boyfriend chinos from a few seasons ago. I wear them (cuffed) in Spring and early Summer and love having a non-denim option. Mine do wrinkle quite a bit due to the fabrication, but that doesn't bother me. (I recall that some other ladies on the forum felt they lacked a certain crispness and were disappointed in them.) I would be interested to see if this new, slimmer cut behaves differently.

No, but I want to try some variations on girlfriend/slim BF and all those in-between things. I have figured out that some kind of "slim ease" can work well, and I think if I try on enough brands and fits I could find The One.

Anyone seen these in the flesh? They seem like they might be a good option for those warm-spring-into-summer days where it's too hot to wear jeans.
