It's been a few weeks since I got my jeans, and I'm still loving the curvy fits. I think Gap made them especially for me. They actually fit and feel like a pair of my 7FAMs. I love that they're light weight so I can still wear them even though our temps aren't especially cool. I haven't tried the skinnies yet, though, but the curvy jeans only seem to stretch too much after three wears. I can handle that!
Jeans frustrate me because I have thicker thighs but a defined waist.
And something I learned from Angie...try on a few pair in your size because they will vary slightly in fit and wash.
I couldn't be happier, especially since I still consider my wardrobe to be "disposable" with my changing size (it has slowed down, though).
I really wish the straights had worked for me. I would love a pair right about now!

I don't know if this is going on everywhere, but the last couple of times that i've gone to the Century Theaters....I've been given a coupon for the 1969 Gap Jeans. Its one of those where you have to take it into the store and have them scan it, but I have one for 25% off and one for I think 30% off. So if any of you are looking to buy these, perhaps go watch a movie first? =)

I am so glad you’re happy with your Gap jeans, Cathy! Marianna, too.

I have been putting clients in Gap’s new denim collection over the last few weeks and have mixed reports unfortunately. Some love the new fits, others don’t. Some work, others don’t. Nothing I can generalize about. I tried on the skinnies and they were quite nice. But I’m like Laura, once you wear premium denim, it’s hard to go back from a quality point of view. However, if the Gap jeans fit well and you love them, of course they can be stylish :0)

Unfortunately, none of these worked for me. Even the long & lean, which I was told is the highest rise, hits me about 5" below the waist--obscenely low. I'm just freakishly long waisted, I guess. Jeans and pants that are designed to hit "at the waist" look like mid rise or sometimes even low rise on me.

The pair of Gap jeans I have from last year (Essential Fit, I think) fit me much better, though I'm on the lookout for a straight leg style--those had wider legs.

ok I bought a pair of the sexy boot yesterday and I had the SAME complaint...i actually liked a lot of the fits, but I couldn't deal with that whiskering...the sales lady assures me it will fade if I wash them a few times, but it is so annoying, I prefer a clean front, I think whiskering makes anyones thighs look larger..why do companies continue to do that to jeans?

Okay, I am impressed. I bought the skinnies in dark grey and they are fab. They actually fit at the waist, and after one wearing, they have stretched a bit, but an acceptable bit, and they haven't bagged out in the rear at all. And, I got them for a song: $59 with an automatic $20 off, plus I had a $20 coupon as a Gap cardholder, so for $19 I got a great pair of skinny jeans. How great is that? Cathy, thanks for the recommendation.

I went back to the Gap yesterday and tried the curvy fit, straight fit, and skinny fit all in medium washes. I love the curvy, so I got those. I really wanted the straight, but they had that long whisker mark right at the chub of the thigh. WHY do they do that? Every pair in my size had it. The medium skinnies also had it, but I found one pair that didn't so much. I'll post pictures as soon as my husband surfaces for air from his busy, insane, inhumane work schedule. :oX

Oh, I thought that Cathy had tried on petites in store. Yes, I've only ever seen ankle length in the store and have to buy petite sizes online. Last fall, I ordered the microchecks in both a regular ankle and a petite and the petite fit way better overall but is a tad too short!!!

That makes sense that the long & lean has a different sizing chart. I didn't try on the curvy (don't have the hips or butt to fill it out) but the long & lean has long been a favorite of mine. But I have plenty of bootcut/flare type of jeans, so I am more focused on finding some good straight jeans this fall. Hopefully they will have different washes coming in...

Actually, the ankle length is a regular size in a shorter length, while "petites" are smaller all over. It's a bit confusing, but Regular jeans come in Ankle, Regular, and Long lengths, while Tall and Petite are different.

In the stores, they have Regular jeans in the three different lengths, but Talls and Petites are only online. Their smallest Regular sizes are not (or didn't used to be) available in an ankle length - at that point, you have to try a Petite, which makes things even more confusing.

p.s. to Kristen again: I actually went to E Street Denim yesterday to nose around. I do NOT love that store. David Kahn is one of the few denim brands that works for me -- and E Street doesn't carry them. Besides, everyone who works there disappears when they turn sideways, making it awkward for those of us with hips and dupas

Kristen -- I totally forgot to try on the boyfriends! I might have to make a trip back. Can't wait to see how you style them.

Shana -- If you look online, the curvy and the long&lean styles have a separate sizing chart than the other styles. They're specifically cut larger in the hips and the thighs. I got some ankle-length ones that were plenty long on me (I'm 5'3"); they were dragging on the ground.

I went to the Gap over the weekend specifically to try on the skinny jeans. I tried the skinnies, the curvy, the bootcut, and the straight just to compare them. The skinnies were a bit too low rise for me. I'm going to try them on again in a larger size to see if that works better.
But the curvy were by far my very favorite. I don't need jeans right now, but the $20 is sure tempting me. The fit in the bum and thighs was perfect for my hourglass/pear figure.

I tried these on recently too and really liked them. I have worn gap jeans since I was a teenager - somehow they have always worked well for me. I found the sizing a little inconsistent depending on the style (skinny, bootcut, long and lean etc). I grabbed my regular size in the straight leg fit (my fave) and it was a size too big. So I sized down for the long and lean but they were too small! My store (relatively small) didn't have any petite sizes and had only 1 color in the straight leg (more of a faded rather than a dark wash) otherwise I would have definitely grabbed a pair (I had a 40% off coupon).

Huh, I dunno April. I haven't owned any Gap jeans before so I don't have any basis for sizing comparison. However, on the product descriptions, they claim:
"Redesigned to fit true to size similar to standard designer jeans."

Which I found to be basically true. I am pretty much a 4 or 6 (27/28) in high and low-end denim, and for the Gap jeans I was fitting the 4s and 6s (depending on the cut and fabric).

The problem I have had with Gap jeans in the past couple of years is that they vanity-sized them to the point that the size 0 is too big. A 0 petite is better but the inseam is very short. Very.

Now they've added a 00. Anybody know if they actually created a smaller size, or if they just took what used to be their 0 and vanity-sized it again?

It would be great to have reliable, go-to jeans...

Hey all,

I went to check out the Gap 1969 Jeans, advertised as "America's Best Fitting Premium Jeans." They are maybe not the best fitting jeans ever, but pretty close, especially for the price (59.50-69.50, and they are having an automatic $20 off right now).

Great quality and an assortment of fits (skinny, straight, bootcut, flare, curvy) and lengths (short, regular, long). The bootcut and flare (their long&lean style) come in a midrise, which worked well for me.

The blue denim skinnies have a nice amount of stretch to them, and even though they are low rise, I think they fit me well. They also have some gray and black skinnies with riding seam details at the knee that were cute.

I haven't had good luck fitting Gap denim before, but their new line works for me. Give them a look the next time you're at the mall!
