(Angie has posted about a way to measure this with hand-spans to determine if you are average, short-waisted, or long-waisted.) Since I am short-waisted, high waisted pants try to sit up under my breasts (not good!). Also, making matters worse, I don't really have much of a natural waist to begin with because I am a rectangle, so a lot of high waisted items are too tight for me in the waistband. I meant to post a comparison on the forum when I first ordered them (in 2 washes and 2 sizes each, good thing they're inexpensive) but then I got lazy and was honest with myself that the released-hem light wash version was less flattering than the dark wash. Also, do size down even though it's a junior's brand.</p> <p>For some reason Target waffles on whether these are considered high rise or mid rise. They are definitely not a super high rise though--I doubt more than 9.5" because they hit just below my belly button. But they are inevitably high rise, which I cannot wear. (The AG Jonis, which are described as high rise, have only a 9.5" rise, which is as high as I can go -- and actually works well for me.) High rises are <b><i>everywhere</i></b>. Sigh.</p> <p>Today I found these at Anthro from Pilcro (whose cropped flares I really like). They have an 8.5" rise and a released hem, and the patch pockets add a bit of military/sailor vibe. When I open my wallet again in October I will probably try these. Just thought I would share, since the wide leg/mid rise is a bit of a unicorn right now. </p>
