If you only choose one, I would absolutely make it that one! Additionally, while I haven't found envelope closures on bags to be inconvenient, I do always worry about how secure a bag with an open or almost-open top is. A zipper is secure, but I don't find snaps or magnetic closures to be enough for my peace of mind. I have a slightly different feeling about bags than clothes and shoes. Personally I find the costs of designer bags prohibitive to my personal sense of spending, but I think that is “just me” in terms of my puritanical upbringing. I might be able to overcome it better if I truly loved bags, but most handbags don’t actually do anything for me. They don’t make my heart sing. Some clutches do, and I have gathered a number of those over decades, as per a recent post. I do however feel that for those who adore bags, using Angie as an example, that the bags may well be used for decades and are more of a collectible than clothing and shoes which perhaps date more? So I kind of feel it’s more in the realm of buying a piece of furniture or an ornament that you really love. And that if you can afford it sensibly, then it’s a better use of discretionary spending than more clothes that you cannot actually have enough days to wear.
