The old ones were all cracked up and everything so I bought new ones at Ikea. They're white not grey (the Veddinge ones). The only problem was that this is an old IKEA kitchen and they changed measurements a few years ago. Which meant I had to made these fit... But it was worth the effort. They still get handles, btw. I only use it for bedsheets—i hang everything else. There is a Wikipedia article with the pic Carla posted that says mangels are often still used to iron things. Our laundromat in Jena had one, but that was a decade ago. Of course, modern ones are heated, but maybe, if I take the sheets from the w/d while they are still warm, it might help. If that works, it’s a bonus. Mostly it will be our dinner table.
