Louise, I'm sorry to hear that. Your outfit sounds fine. I cannot offer much advise on hats, though, as I never wear them. One thing I will remind you again (I see mention above)--don't forget sunglasses.

I am sorry for your and your boyfriend's family's loss. Funerals of people who die before their time are horrific.

I think that if the weather is like it is at the moment then a sleeveless top will be fine and I think that your hat sounds perfect given the crowd.

I was just wondering if you had a black, navy or dark grey dress you could wear? It might be cooler than a skirt and shirt.

Don't forget the sunscreen either - especially if you are going to be standing outside.

Oh Louise, this is just such sad news. Your outfit sounds perfectly suitable and respectable. I think the biggest thing is to make a sincere effort when dressing for the funeral and this is what you have very obviously done with great care.

It is a good distraction to find something to wear that you feel good about yourself in. There will be plenty of other things to feel sad about and your outfit should NOT be one of them. . .

So sorry to hear that Louise.

On the outfit - I have wore sleeveless tops to funerals in the Australian summer ( to my Dad's, even without a jacket) so I'd think that's fine if the shoulder is substantial not strappy.

His dads funeral was a cremation so service in the chapel and then there was just a lot of standing around (at least 30 mins) outside the chapel before moving onto a pub for the wake. I'm guessing this one will follow a similar pattern x

The only thing I would add is that if you're going to be standing at the gravesite, you might want to wear something with short sleeves so if you have to take off the bf jacket from the heat, you'll still have your shoulders covered.

My boyfriend's cousins son died last night. I'm guessing it will be a couple of weeks till the funeral with post mortem and inquest but I want to get an outfit sorted ASAP in case I need to buy something.
I was thinking black pencil skirt, dark cobalt blue ruffled banded sleeveless top, boyfriend jacket- sleeves rolled up or down? bare legs and kitten heel pointy toe ankle strap black shoes and black leather clutch? There was a lot of standing around outside at his dad's funeral and I'm suffering with the heat lately and find if I don't wear a hat I get a stonking headache I'm guessing my white panama isn't going to be appropriate could I get away with my black pinstripe trilby or will it look like I'm trying to be too trendy should I do without and risk/ put up with the headache? x
