Thanks for all the therapeutic support. You all make me feel better and not so alone! I will post pictures as soon as I can. They actually look good with leans and skinnies. If they aren't right, I would hate to run into a YLF-er who knows about perfect boot fit. And these are too pricey to keep if they are not amazing in every way!

Sorry to hear. I am in group big calf. Many boots are too small to fit my calves. Finding a perfect fit boot for my short stumpy legs is not easy. Don't give up, you will find your perfect fit boots.

Una, my friend has really narrow calves, too, and she swears by her cobbler, who has taken in ALL of her boots for her. Admittedly, the Frye's are expensive already, but she counts it as payment towards her "time and sanity." You also have to trust the cobbler, as I think I remember a forum horror story about a cobbler taking boots unevenly.

I can't wait for the pics, I'd love it if the forum can give 'em a pass for you.

Una, I'm sobbing with you. The "perfect" LC's I ordered were just too wide in the calf. I hope Angie will chime in about the Western style boot and calf width but think you can wear them less fitted in the calf than other boots. Mnsara, I think you are right that manufacturers are making boots wider than in the past.
Does anyone know what exercises one can do to get "athletic calves"?

Oh Una, I do understand. I can't tell you the times I've wanted to fling myself on the floor and have a good tantrum over boot issues.

LOL, I need them too!!! Oh and 2 or 3 inches in added calf length wouldn't hurt too!!

Anyway, I'm not sure which boots you purchased but I've always thought that cowboy-style ones look fine with a little gap. Please post pics when you get a chance!

Una I sympathise I literally whooped for joy when my new boots fit in the calf. The holy grail of boots! Do post pics they may look better than you think. I also find legwarmers a useful addition when wearing skirts as it helps to fill the gap but looks like they are there as part of the outfit x

ETA~ I seem to remember Angie has some slouchy tan boots which look very loose? x

ETA~ here we go I found a piccie scoll down and it's the one in the middle http://youlookfab.com/2009/09/.....uch-boots/

Awww, why do we torture ourselves so?? I am at the other end of the calf spectrum and have spent YEARS unable to zip up boots. . . until the past two years. . .maybe the manufacturers have switched to making boots with more calf room than before?? (If so, then they also switched to making arms in coats with skinnier -- grrr!!)

Let us see with pics. I DO think coyboy style boots are supposed to have some room, and they also are usually not as tall the knee, so pictures will help.

Are they okay with leans inside. . . ?

*hugs to you* So sorry that the fit isn't what you had hoped for, Una. Would they work okay over jeans even if they are too wide for bare legs?

I have the opposite boot fitting problem, so although I haven't exactly stood in your shoes, I certainly empathize. Boot shopping has brought me to tears many a time when I fall in love with a boot that won't zip up.

The super-expensive Fryes I ordered arrived, and they are a gorgeous cognac and really nice height on me, but the CALF! I can't stand that they are listed as narrow calf and yet my pencil legs will not fill the shaft. I think they might still look fine because they are a casual cowboy-boot style but I will be posting pictures when I find my camera, so you all can make the final ruling.

*sobbing* Where are you, cognac boots of my dreams?
