My favourite Fryes to wear with both jeans and dresses would be the Campus Stitching Horse in saddle or walnut. The banana just seems a little too far out there for me

http://www.zappos.com/frye-campus-stitching-horse

I wear mine under bootcuts allot, and have worn them with some rather dressy dresses in the past, and they just seem to work.

Every gal needs a pair of Fryes!

What is your height and calf circumference, Lucy?

Ooh Fryes! They have some really fantastic styles, don't they.

Good question, Lucy, I think shaft height for skirts and dresses is difficult to comment on without seeing a picture. It depends on many factors if I'm not mistaken: body type, how tall you are, the style of the dress or skirt...

If you would like to wear them under jeans (bootcuts, straight-legged jeans?) it's probably better to pick a style that's not too loose and bulky around the calves and ankles, so the jeans will easily fit over them.

I really want a pair of Frye boots for Christmas but am unsure what kind to get. I want to wear them under jeans but also with a cute summer dress. I like the Harness style but what height would look best with a knee length or slightly shorter skirt? The Mid shaft or tall shaft? Tall does not cover my knees. Thank you!!!
