I'm in Dallas and these are definitely not cowboy boots. Since they have a box toe and the harness around them they are separate from western boots.

I've also seen women wearing them with skirts too.

The Target boot is a knockoff of the Frye boots, which are more like riding boots. But you're right, all of these boots have a rugged outdoorsy feel to them. You could wear them with skirts, but (in my opinion) they'd work best with an all-over outdoorsy look or with a careful contrast with something more feminine.

In my experience, the quality of Target footwear is really variable--I've tried (and owned) some shoes and boots that are high-quality in materials and construction, and others, not so much. You have to see them and try them to know.

Well, some people here seem to like cowboy boots and they have a decent following, so I wouldn't say they're a strict no-no (though I personally can't stand 'em, no offense to anyone who loves them).

However, I wouldn't consider those cowboy boots. They're engineer boots and quite popular. You *can* wear them with skirts, but I don't know what your style is like so I can't say if you'll like the look or not.

I have some Christmas money (yay!) and I'm eagerly looking for a good boot purchase. I'm looking at these boots from Target:

http://www.target.com/Mossimo-.....20Engineer

But I'm having reservations. They're one of the few boots in my price range (and they're real leather), but I can only think cowboy when I look at them. I'm from Texas, see, and have thankfully gotten rid of everything with a hoedown connotation.

So, ladies, can you help me? Is this something that's too kitschy? Or something that's practical? Can you wear it with skirts? My first reaction is that it's too short - but maybe I just need to get used to the look.

Any help/suggestions? Thank you!
