I love Sock Dreams and order all the time, but they haven't had this kind of hose for a long time. I'll check again; it's been about a month.

On a speed-shopping trip Saturday I hit Dillard's, Macy's, Penney's, and the Nordstrom (prob. tier C) that's the closest. Dillards had a LOT, particularly of Hanes. I got some open-toe ones, which I've never tried before, but will help me wear my peep toes when it warms up in the morning some more. Macy's also had a good selection of Hanes, including the "Travel Buff" color in Hanes Silk Reflections - the lightest non-ivory nude. I wore them to church yesterday and was impressed; the fit was good and comfortable, and they weren't too hard to get on. I wanted to try Berkshires, but they were only at Macy's and only in the Shimmer and Sheer Toe varieties. Nordie's was my last stop and I didn't find a color similar to the light nude. I don't think they had reinforced toe, though I was low on blood sugar by then and don't actually remember!

I've also set up an ebay search for the Vera Wang tights. Beth Ann, I'm glad you know what I'm talking about! I hope I'll be able to get some more styles in dead stock, even if I have to try a size up. (That might be a disaster, but oh well.)

Janet, I didn't make it to TJ Maxx/Marshall's/Ross yet, but that's still on my list. That would be a fun challenge for you! I did a major clearout myself a year ago; I kind of over-indulged in colored things but I'm mostly over that.

I echo Anna's suggestion to look at Sock Dreams -- they have a good selection. I would also try TJMaxx, Marshalls, etc if there are any near you. DKNY makes decent hosiery IIRC. Berkshires from Macy's used to be one of my go-to brands for semi-opaque hose back when I actually wore them. I just cleaned out my tights/pantyhose drawer and got rid of a bunch because I just never wear them anymore. I still have more than enough to fill any possible need that might come up. I was slightly shocked and amused to see that somehow I still own 3 pairs of microfishnets in black and 1 totally unworn pair in nude. Maybe I need to challenge myself to wear my skirts/dresses and use that hosiery.

Time to stock up! I know exactly the Vera Wang styles you're referring to! I had a pair! I also purchased micro fishnets from No Nonsense from WalMart for awhile ($3), but they've been discontinued. I know you don't live near Nordie's, but they do have great shipping and return policies, so I wouldn't rule them out. A department store's offerings would be broader, and, with a coupon or on a sale day, shouldn't be too bad with price!

I've noticed the stores are out or cleared most hose going into spring. I wanted some brown opaque tights and couldn't find a thing anywhere!

I suggest Ebay or Amazon for specific items when the stores don't carry them anymore.

Will do, Taffy! I'm not quite your height, but my legs are long and pretty curvy. I guess standard sizes (which go up to 6') aren't enough? I'll keep an eye out! I used to wear vintage stockings quite a bit, so I understand thigh highs. They can be more flexible for sizing, that's for sure. (At least with non-fully-fashioned ones.)

As I've been browsing, I'm seeing more makers with a wider variety of nudes. Hanes (the non-L'eggs ones) and Berkshires tend to have at least 4 colors. With the patterned ones, too, it's okay not to match; it's obvious that you're wearing hose in that case, and not just doing a bad job of matching your skin.

Please post an update with any successes that you have! I'm having a similar problem with my very pale skin, but also adding in my extra height(6'). I usually where thigh highs because regular hose is just never long enough, no matter the size.
Maybe try mytights.com? I did get some really nice quality tights from there, but they weren't long enough. Luckily my seamstress was able to attach the top of another pair to them.

Going to ebay with a specific brand in mind sounds like a good solution, I really don't remember seeing nude patterned hose when I was shopping in general for patterned hose in 2014, and looking on Amazon I'm coming up pretty blank. Good luck! They look great with your red shoes.

Yep, black is is almost everything I'm finding right now. I'm hoping it's just the lull between clearing out holiday stuff and getting in spring stuff. I did just hop onto ebay and scored some past-season Vera Wang in the light nude color. They're kind of micronet, with a medium dotted diamond weave. If they're not too heavy, they'll keep me going for a little while longer. I'm going to hit my department stores tomorrow, too.

Gigi, Nordstrom is a very long drive from me, unfortunately! Otherwise I would definitely check it out. I do check Target and they haven't had any for a year, and F21 the last time I was in. Thank you!

unfrumped, I'll definitely check Dillards; I usually avoid TJMaxx, etc. because I'm really bad about falling for unnecessary bargains! But it would be good for something that appears to be vanished from other stores. Belk's is not a local store. Thanks!

Patterned/colored tights aren't the issue; it's patterned semi-sheer nude hose that is hard to find. This is the only picture I have handy; they're actually tan instead of nude so the diamonds show up more than I'd prefer. I have the exact same design in light gray; it's an okay look, but not nude. ;)

I have seen patterned hose , such as chevron, houndstooth, stripes, all over the place, at dept stores like Dillard's and Belk and also all the discount places like TJMaxx, DSW, Steinmart. For regular nude reinforced toe hose I have used Hanes and Nordstrom's 3/$30 brand.

Have you tried Nordstrom? They have microfishnets. They also had a lighter, ivory-ish pair of hose that had a lacy pattern on them. But maybe these are too expensive for you.

If you want cheaper options that have patterns, maybe you could check out Target or Forever 21; they might have something.

Muffin, I'll look for those! I used to wear vintage seamed stockings and wash them in the sink every night, so that's a routine I'm used to. :)

Lisa, it looks like DIM must be a Canadian-only brand; it's not on the US side of Amazon, hmm. But I'll give some other department stores a try. Online Macy's is showing predominately Berkshires (which I've never tried), Hanes, and some HUE. A quick Amazon search didn't show Secret (except for some stray Victoria's) but I'll keep looking around for another source. I'm seeing some toeless ones which would allow me to wear these with peeptoe shoes (I have a lot), and keep me from putting holes through. Thank you for the encouragement!

My biggest question is still the patterned ones. I'll be very sad if those really have disappeared from retail. But it would be nice to have some plain ones for backup.

I buy DIM or literally any brand who happens to show a micro fishnet. And these are all available at department stores.....Secret is another brand I have worn (it's listed on amazon but I killed myself laughing at the actual styles they feature - I'm sure they are there somewhere ) DIM is more expensive, but worth it in terms of quality.

I know you mentioned a dollar limit but I bought a pair of Falke micro fishnets online (can't remember which site but there was free shipping and a percentage off-so that helped). They are very durable and comfortable and the nude color is perfect for my very pale legs. I don't mind hand washing between wears. Excellent quality.

Sorry Lisa, I mean where I usually shop. Maybe that's the problem. I'm sorry. Do you have links to your microfishnets? I haven't found any online, but I guess I'm looking in all the wrong places. I do have a dollar limit for something that's a regular disposable.

rabbit, I started looking on Amazon and got kind of overwhelmed! But I'd appreciate some recommendations if you have any. I've had really good luck with the patterned sheers; some have had dozens of wears.

You might be able to replace some tried and true ones on Amazon. My nearly nude hose of whatever variety is only good for about 3 or 4 wears before it becomes boot only hose. Opaque tights or black transparent/semi opaque tights seem to last much longer so I've kind of given up on the nearly nude.

Not sure what you mean by L'Eggs being the only option. Department stores carry huge ranges of hosiery ....

I find microfishnets last far longer than regular hose - and I'm using DIM, Hanes, anything really.

Spring has triggered early this year, so I'm suddenly not wanting to wear black opaques or other dark colored/thick tights. At the same time, it's still too chilly (most of the time) and too early in the year to go bare-legged.

At times like these, my preference is for nearly-nude but patterned hose. I have a limited collection, mostly from Vera Wang at Kohl's. I LOVE hose like this. They usually have control top (which I usually appreciate for the smoothing) and reinforced toe (because that's the first place I get holes). They're also subtly interesting to look at and are not hard to get on. But I do eventually get too many holes in the toes, or that one major runner, and have to retire them. I'm down to 3 nude-ish hues right now and only the light gray are still whole.

So I desperately need replacements - and I can't find a thing. Couldn't back at the end of the summer, either. Are these now totally out of fashion? Even micro fishnets aren't to be found. I tried a pair once and they snagged horribly/unwearably on the second wearing, so I never got any more. But I'm willing to try again if that's the only thing.

I'm also willing to try plain hose. But just about the only option is L'eggs, and the only reinforced toe variety they have is Sheer Energy. Sheer Energy is halfway to being support hose, so they're very tight and difficult to get on. Not worth the struggle, plus the high risk of putting a thumb through the thigh. (Done that more than once...)

Any ideas?
