I've been working all weekend so am pathetically late to this, Maya- but you look gorgeous. I love the fringe, and though I see Angie's point on the eyebrow thing (I've always been jealous of those with dark, perfectly arching brows), I wouldn't worry about it too much. They're still there, after all! Rock your fringe, I say.

Oh Julie, I meant to say thanks for the tutorial. It actually was helpful. I was struggling today trying to figure out how to dry it and most tutorials are about how to dry side bangs.

I think it's still just a little bit light and feathery for me, probably because I have such fine hair. I love a heavy curtain fringe. I'll get it tweaked next time I'm there.

I think I finally figured out what I'm going for: Anna Karina, circa 1960. I absolutely adored her style and hair.

http://i97.photobucket.com/alb.....Karina.jpg

Heavy fringe and looking remarkably like Audrey Tautou:

http://dianediana.files.wordpr.....arina2.jpg

SHE could pull off the above-the-brows look.

Oh Maya, I'm so glad you went back to the salon!! I love the fringe now, and agree with Angie: you're a lucky lass since you can pull off both looks (with eyebrows showing or not, and yep, I admit it, I'm quite envious of your gorgeous brows and eyes)!

Sorry to hear you are having some problems styling it, but I'm sure you'll get the hang of it very soon. Enjoy your new do, you look beautiful!!

Maya, Maya, Maya. My dear, Maya. You have several fabulously beautiful features. My comment started off by staying that I really like your new fringe!!!

I can't help that I adore your eyebrows which are the envy of many women. I think eyebrows frame the face and are a big part of the picture. So when you cover them up - I miss them. I'd be dishonest if I said that I didn't miss them. But that doesn't mean that you don't look pretty when you cover them up. You're very, very lucky that way.

As for the goo. I'm convinced you're using the wrong stuff. I too loathe sticky goo too. Can't stand it. But I have non-sticky goo that does the trick. I can help you out with specifics if you like.

Enjoy your new fringe! It looks wonderful and you have had SO MUCH positive feedback on this thread!

Edited to add: I stumbled across this demo today and thought it may be of use

Truthfully, I love your new fringe, it is at a length where you can really play with it. Bow dry straight, twist sections, pin and quiff it, blow to the side.

With a pomade it really helps if you put a tiny amount in the palm of your hand, then rub your palms together until you feel the heat, you can then apply to your fingertips and define the ends.

If you are hairspray phobic (I am as it tends to cause spots on my skin) you can spray your comb/ brush with the product and then gently comb your fringe.

It's far to early to GIVE up on the style, you've got days of experimenting to do yet!

Maya if I could look like you in a fringe I'd do it in a heartbeat. You have the face, forehead and hair to pull it off. I say keep it for a while, then grow it out if you really don't like it. Or you could just keep it there forever since I love it so much and can't ever have one

I love your hair any way you style it. I love the shorter bangs because of your eyebrows but it is very lovely with them longer also. I do not see any negative in long or short fringe- it seems as if you prefer the longer.

The proportions of your face are wonderful. You are a beauty- rejoice!!

I think I was excited about it until Angie said it covers one of my best features. But now that I think of it, I never really had very strong feelings about my eyebrows before. I tried fishing through some pictures of short bangs to see if I found any I liked..but honestly, it's just not a style I can appreciate on most people, myself included. I thought almost all of them would have looked better with a few centimeters of length grown out.

I think they're like volume: Hiding one feature to showcase others. Also like volume, they are also not stationary. They move, and give hints of what is underneath. :)

It sounds like you and I have the same texture Tam. Mine comes out the same way. It sort of works when it's shorter, but it looks kind of schmucky by the end of the day and builds up very easily. My hair tends to cling on to anything I put in it and I don't want to spend my entire Sunday washing it out!

So, it'll be a while before I need a trim anyway. I guess I'll see how I like it, and how people respond to it in person.

Maya I love this fringe!! Why are you lamenting it already! You are one of the few people that can pull a fringe like this off, so own it I say!!! I know what you mean about goop not working though....my hair is fine and frizzy but adding goop just seems to make it dirty, not give defintion like I see on others. I've never quite worked out if its because I'm using too much, or the wrong product. Goop whinges aside, I really like this look on you Maya and hope it grows on you soon!!!!

Maya, I think this is what you were going for originally...I think you achieved it.
Notice how slightly piecey her fringe is over the brows?
Try this , after you blow dry your hair, take a little hair spray and spray~on your fingertips~ and just finish of the ends of your fringe...not greasy at all and breaks up the line without any goo:)

I guess the goo doesn't work. If it looked nice I might be willing to try and tolerate it. But it just looks unwashed and gross...especially since the rest of my hair is so sleek right now, it looks kind of odd that it has that texture. Maybe I'm not doing it right? I took a film on my thumb and index finger and kind of pinched them. I guess it's hard for me to know what I'm doing since I'm not quite sure what they're supposed to look like.

I was looking for above-the-brow pictures and found these ones one of Penelope:

http://theasofie.files.wordpre.....mango1.jpg

Ok, I took the tiniest amount of lightweight whipped wax and ran it through the ends a bit. Like just enough to make a film on my fingers. It looks and feels stringy and nasty. I can't do goo in my hair every day. The whole reason I have it in the first place it is because I bought it when my hair was short, but it is virtually unused because I just can't get used to the hard, greasy feeling. It looked nice in long hair but in the bangs it just looks gross, like I haven't washed them. I didn't even use that much. What else can I do with this fringe? Using a round brush would just make them poofy and short. I am leaning towards the grueling grow-out right now.

Maya, you got that right, its all about what you like on you!!! I tell my clients that all the time, its all about what they want an not so much me. I personally don't see any thing wrong with both bangs, long or short on you looks great!

Noooo . don't grow them out fringe is fun , you can do different things and they frame your face beautifully. Style them different ways until YOU are happy:) In the end Maya it is what makes you comfy and happy. Play around, You have had this before and know what works for you.

You asked me how they would interact with my glasses Angie, and I replied by saying I don't wear glasses enough for it to be an issue and that I'd rather have long bangs or no bangs. I don't think anyone replied after that.

Dash--I agree. I have no interest in channeling Bettie Page :\

So I guess the question is should I maintain them or grow them back out. I don't want them shorter. We're talking about my face here, and if I'm not happy with how they look, it really doesn't matter how much anyone else likes them. But I guess at the same time, if everyone thinks it's better to go fringeless, I'd rather do that.

I like them longer. I think shorter bangs with a bob can go to a kind of Hot-Topic place (hope I haven't offended anyone).

Maya could simply achieve this shorter look by blowing it under with a small/med round brush....you can do it on dry hair . No need to cut it and the versatility of flatter longer or shorter springier is up to your mood that day
