Jenni NZ, something I'm realizing about my style in other conversations here is that I like to mix tough and fancy/elegant together, leather n lace style (a la the Stevie Nicks song). I think that explains how I see these as similar. In some, the "tough" is more dominant, in others the "grace" is at the fore, but I think they all have both elements. If you only see one in each pair, then I can see how they look disparate.

JAileen, I’m realizing that those are my favorites too, based on looks alone. I’ve only been able to find them at two stores, and they are still full-priced at both. I’d better do my sit-ups so I can get them before they sell out

I love the second pair, the Seychelle leather brocade. They have the look of brocade, but might be more durable since they are leather. As for how long to wait, I think it depends how much you love them. Whenever I wait too long I search high and low and sometimes find them and sometimes not.

Jill58, thank you for the cape find. Perfect for my sister for Christmas. She took one of my mom's and has worn it out. If anyone needs to shop for anyone often in a wheel chair, get them a cape in a length that will not get caught in the wheels. They will love it!

Just going back and forth with people here, I've become more attached to #2, and would also be disappointed if 4 & 5 are sold out. I can't use more than one pair, but I want to at least try them on and make a choice.
Meanwhile, I have evaded exercise all day.... maybe I won't be getting any new boots at all :/

I really like the first two pairs!! I don't know the cycle/ timing but I would hold off now. My reasoning being that there is not one pair that you seriously love or need. I would go looking when you meet your goal- and risk they are all sold out.

I tend to mark my shoes too- I have been ok with my camel suede boots but not great with my white sneakers.

I bought the Franco Sarto booties along with this black cape as holiday wear--for dinners out, parties...in other words for slightly more dressy occasions--not formal--just for when I want to dress up a bit. If you search google images for brocade booties you will find lots of styling ideas. I put them on yesterday to try with a dress and opaque tights but decided on my black Sam Edelman Okala's instead. I think they would work well with black leggings and a tunic/dress--maybe jeans, but again for a slightly more dressed up look. 4, 5, 6, 7, 9 in your finds look more like daily wear to me. Unfortunately I can't give you too many ideas for the Franco Sarto booties because I purchased them so recently and am still trying to decide about their place in my wardrobe.

Thank you all for the comments/discussion.

Jill, how do you wear the Sarto booties? Do they work with skirts? I think the shorter ones would, but am uncertain about this shank height.

Jenni, with the cuff folded up, I think #6 takes on a very different look.

I agree with Rachylou that these can go dressy, but are not necessarily formal. That's what I'm looking for anyway.

I want something to wear everyday, where everyday involves everything from the grocery store to research in an archive or interviewing informants (city employees, activists)--the kind of thing I did as a professor, and possibly a lunch or drink out occasionally. I can see all of these doing all of those things, except for your first two, which wouldn't work if I was wearing capris/pedal-pushers.

I don't think I have enough WIWs for a post right now, but I'll put some up from my challenge next week, which will give a better idea. I basically want to replace both pairs of shoes I'm wearing in the challenge (in these finds and posts) in one, so not an exact copy of either.

I think you've seen the WiWs, but here they are again. https://youlookfab.com/welookf.....-challenge https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/a-weak-week

ETA just stumbled across another great pair. Maybe I really can wait until I've lost the weight to get the reward, and there will be good boots ;)
I think they'd all be good with jeans, long, probably full, skirts,
and short skirts (Although I'm a little less certain about the Sartos
and Simpsons with long skirts)

OK. Thanks for calling me the shoe expert! But jill58 has noticed the same, and Rachylou in a different way.
Some of these are beautifully dressy. In order: the 2 high shaft florals are the most dressy to my eye. I could see them with a "holiday outfit" like Angie's dress or delurked's jumpsuit.
Then the top 2 slightly flatter brocade pairs. Those could go with said dress or jumpsuit but are not as dressy to me, would still look nice. Those two are the ones I am drawn to, to wear all winter at my work and when going out to dinner with friends, or shopping. Flat enough for comfort, dressy enough to lift the outfit, those would get comments for me from my shoe admirers who are many!
Next most dressy, finds 4 and 9.Now we are heading to more casual territory. Beautiful rich cognac, I agree. The lack of flowers takes the dressy away even if the heels are similar.
Then find 8. Lacing makes it more casual again somehow. ( This is all my totally biased opinion as a shoe geek since age 19).
Lastly, finds 5 and 6. One looks like tramping boots ( the lace-up) and the other like some floppy 90s grunge of some sort. I'm afraid those two I seriously dislike. I owned something similar to the lace-ups in the actual 90s, and also a pair from the 70s as my actual tramping ( "hiking") boots.
So that's why I said there was huge variety and I think jill58 is sort of saying the same.
Delurked put those floral brocade ones in Finds ( I think) : she was considering them for her jumpsuit but knew they wouldn't have the same wow factor as gold.
So I ask same as jill58- what look are you aiming for here?

In answer to your question re:brocade, yes, it's a thing right now along with embroidery. I have the Franco Sarto booties and they're very nice but I'm unclear about the hole you're trying to fill with the boots in your finds--they're all quite different--some quite casual--some dressy--also a variety of heel heights. Maybe as Rachy said, you could choose one brocade (if that's something that would work in your life) and one of the more casual styles.

I just noticed this in the finds. Is brocade look becoming a thing? If so, then I can calm down about wanting one of exactly the pairs above.
Also, cruising around the archives last night I saw that Angie mentioned an 8 week cycle, which means my Jan purchase decision would be right on time.

Jenni, you're the shoe expert. To my simplifying eye, the cut of all of these, except the brocades with the block heels, looks similar, and then there are some rich leather colors and some brocades/patterns.

If I could pick a couple favorites, I could get them and stash them away until I reach my goal, then make myself pick one to start wearing, and return the rest. But that's a lot of money and closet space to tie up for a couple of months for one pair of shoes. I've been known to buy a piece of clothing on sale that I expect I will wear, but that's a different thing--less risk, less money.

The other thing is the whole splash of a shoe orgy of ordering all of these in at the store and taking an afternoon to try them on. Pulling a couple pairs out of hiding at decision time wouldn't be the same fun.

...til the bloom is off the rose and inventory is gone?

I love these boots. All of them, but I can't have them all.

I'm giving two footwear styles a test run right now--patterned loafers and light-colored booties. I loved the booties when I got them, knew the loafers were just a trial.

Results? I'm wearing the loafers way more than expected, and the booties show how badly I lack Angie's keep-your-boots-clean magic. They'd be easier to clean if they were suede instead of an imitation that I'm afraid to rub too hard. So no more light-colored shoes for me--I'm getting flashbacks to white patent leather Mary Janes, and my mother's dismay at my Muggle ways.

I slacked off exercising, need to recover my progress and continue. I want to give myself boots as a reward in January, if I've met my goal. Here's my question: I'm pretty good at outlets and sales sites but how long can I expect items not currently reduced to remain available and will sizes not available now be restocked? Cause I love these boots.
