It matters naught if Sir Paul can read music or not. My Gram was a self taught student of the piano and organ by ear.. It is just remarkable to share his influence and information. Somehow this community HAS to find you something that will work for you! Blackbird is one of those great songs Paul M wrote that transcends all eras...it's just a simple little song that can be sung in lots of different styles. The civil rights meaning is what he intended but it can also be taken very simply as about freedom in general. The fact that such a simple songs brings tears to many people's eyes is a testament to Sir Paul's immense creativity. Another interesting thing about it is that the guitar part  was inspired by a JS Bach piece written for lute.
