haha, Ummlila! Good advice to just chop the waistband part off.
I'm not quite there yet with fringe and tassles --- maybe 1 tassle on a bag would be OK. I think it's the busy-ness of it I don't care for.

I'm definitely on team frayed for a weekend look.

I'm not into frayed anything, as I don't want my clothing to look old. Fringe is okay I guess.

Example of bad chopping. I wish I'd just cut off the band around the bottom.

Free fray jacket to anyone under five feet.

Team Fringe and Team Fray. I have four new fringe/fray items in my spring wardrobe! I leave it to the professionals, though. I am not much of a DIY-er.

I have four fringed items, and if a removable dangling tassel counts, maybe five. A pair of sandals, a pair of pointy toed flats, a purse, a sweater/cardigan, and a decorative keychain! :-)

The keychain was my first purchase and a good way to dip a toe into fringe! It was so much fun I clearly went back for more.

Like Lisa above, I'm eyeing a few denim jackets with a pair of scissors in one hand .....but yes, they could get pretty short all of a sudden, which is fine if you are 18 and going to a music festival but...

And I was thinking more about the tweed jacket mini-trend ....I'm not convinced it's here for any length of time- as a trend, but if you like the look as a classic, then absolutely . And they are hard to fit, as we've seen here on the forum. I have bought what seems like too many of these over the years, and oddly, never wear them. I think they either are part of your look, or not.....

I am enamored with the frayed hem trend (and released hem & frayed hem) and I love the idea of combining that bit of casualness with a tweed topper as that is historically such a classic look. I think the two mix really really well.

I did release the hem of a pair of old cropped pants. I am glad I tried that, and will wear them a bit this summer I'm sure, but the leg is too wide -- it's somewhere between a straight cropped and a wide leg and it's not great. I'm team purchase the fray.

I'm.i,ing the fringe trend, especially on a tweed jacket. Last year I tried to ale a fringed edge vest from a denim jacket. It did not turn out at all. Denim may not fray the way that you think it will. This also happened with a pair of jeans. I am not ready to try another DIY fringe.

I'm interested in fringed/kiltie sandals - and totally support the frayed hem jeans look for this summer. Actually, I think it could be a longer term option than just a trend - as long as the "fringe" is not too crazy. The only thing the let-down or raw hem does though is take away the option to wear those jeans in a work or slightly dressier setting. It renders them pretty casual , or for days off. For purses: I don't manage well with things hanging off of bags - I've already lost one or two of the leather strings hanging off of my everyday bag from getting caught in things , and from my cat (who I think is building something somewhere with all of my things) .

I was kind of turned off by fringe everywhere until I spotted a long cardi with a fringe bottom edge at Last CalI for $51. It's not quite warm enough wear it. So, never say never. Well, it is still highly unlikely you will ever see me in a fringed jacket. I'm looking at a pair of jeans to cut off as well.

There is something about the frayed edge trend that I really like, so I am on board with the look for this summer. Last year I cut a pair of jeans into shorts, and they became my 'go-to' weekend bottoms. There is nothing really novel about cut-off jeans for shorts though.

Last week I let down the hems on a pair of new white flared jeans. The length is good, but I think I will crop them when the weather gets warmer because I love ankle baring styles, and I believe a cropped flare will showcase recently acquired interesting footwear! I have a pair of straight leg jeans that I wear rolled (they are too short otherwise) that I am thinking about chopping to get a fray on these as well.

These are do-it-yourself fray projects, vs purpose bought fringe. I'm tempted by the fringey-Channelesque tweed jackets, and I tried on a pair of flat, fringed sandals (very good at hiding bunions!) - but haven't found the perfect-for-me items. I'm intrigued that I like fringe so much, whereas don't like distressing at all! I'm also wondering if the fringe trend will have legs beyond this season?

In the interim, I plan to embrace fringe as my fun trend for 2016.

Team fringe? Are you a do-it-yourselfer or purpose bought? Do you think you will be wearing your fringe beyond one fashion season?
