The heel cup, which most footwear lacks and which orthotics include, makes a huge difference. Flat boots are ideal for me, but the fit in the ones I ordered was unusually tight and uncomfortable. I'll probably still keep an eye out for cheap Uggs, but these'll function well in many settings. I ordered several pairs of boots, not expecting to keep any of them because of fit issues. I had read that the arch support in these Sorel boots was fabulous, but inwardly rolled my eyes because what tends to work for 99% of other people doesn't work for my feet. </p> <p>Well, I was wrong! </p> <p>The support is wonderful. These may be keepers and replacement for my Frye boots that are horribly uncomfortable. I'll have to walk around a bit to make sure these work. </p>
