Hmmm ... </p> <p>I do have a preppy streak (teenager in the 80s) but my mid-forties body is decidedly NOT preppy (squishy), so I don't sport preppy much. Maybe that's why I'm not wearing the white. I'm also quite RATE in my style (very casual) so maybe the white jeans are too polished. I'm going to try and style them this weekend. I think the key is the colour -- they are <i>so</i> faded out, and a little dirtyish-looking. Jeans that are too blue or -- ack -- periwinkle do not read as RATE to me, but as SNL mom jeans. (And no matter how you slice or dice it, mom jeans are mom jeans).</p> <p>Greyscale, I agree -- slouchy white jeans are less polished than fitted ones.
