My latest was a pair of gloves. The “leather” just peels off the backing. Coated denim that looks like leather also eventually leaves only the backing. I find real leather lives longer and even improves with age. If you only use the pleather for a season it will be fine but it also does not store well. A brand new needle specced for faux leather will not leave a noticeable hole. I made a pleather skirt and really liked working with the material.</p> <p>I note that for the pants I just had hemmed, the tailor used a double needle with a zig zag stitch on the hidden side, to give the pleather a little stretch, and sewed right at the raw edge so there is no additional fabric turned under.
