Retail prices are half Burberry's or less, if you find things on sale you can get significant savings if money is a concern (or you want to buy even more awesome stuff - woohoo!!). I've seen gorgeous, flattering designs from Mountain Hardware in quilted jackets with real down and the quality is in certain respects superior to Burberry's quilted jackets. So, in my view, if you're seriously interested in this type of piece for your wardrobe and labels don't matter, it would be worth your while to expand your shopping arena (if that makes sense). (Not addressing you of course, but the people who might disagree!). </p> <p> The funny thing is that people never look at me and think I am any of the things I am (lawyer, mother, runner, climber) - nor do they see me as rich housewife at all - I honestly think there are so many incorrect preconceptions about what an Indian woman is like, especially here where there just aren't that many of us, that they expect me to be some fantasy demure, soft-spoken, graceful creature. Jeez, just look at the boots, people!</p> <p>Anyway, my point is I've gotten to enjoy destroying people's assumptions, and if wearing this coat is going to make them think "kept woman" or "oil executive's wife" or whatever they think, so much the better when they find out the truth.</p> <p>On to your brilliant review - the practicality of the coat is what could be a deal-breaker. It sounds more like something I could wear in every season but winter here. That would give me April through October, since the coldest months are November through March.
