Oh me also! So it has turned to the high 80s rather than steady 90+ and I have begun to venture out in jeans, but the closed shoes with socks will have to wait. And the jackets. And the coats. And the sweaters that it is hard to imagine I will ever want to wear again but no there day will come too!

Boots. I cannot wait for boots. This is Texas, we're supposed to wear boots. But really, who wants sweaty feet? It's been in the upper 90s here, and that's just the official temps that are recorded in the shade. Take a temperature reading out in the sun and it's more like 109.

So I want to wear:
* boots
* jeans
* scarves
* sweaters

Although I will likely only be able to wear most of that stuff for about 3.6 nanoseconds before it gets too freaking hot again. Because our predominant weather pattern is "stupid hot" for all but a few weeks a year. One of these days, I'll quit being the dumb bunny that buys all these pretty things that I only get to wear for about 6 weeks every year.

We've had an incredible late summer in New England (you all can throw things at me if you want but I did survive three Las Vegas summers prior to moving here!). Low humidity, lots of sun, crisp nights and mild temps. No dog days but no early frost either. Today it's 56°F but grey and rainy.

I've been trying to take advantage of the weather and make use of all my "transitional" pieces that I rarely get a chance to wear: cotton jackets, low-denier tights, closed shoes that aren't boots. Because these are pieces that don't get much play, I have that shop-your-closet feeling and it's doing a great job of preventing wardrobe boredom. Makes me see the wisdom in curating small, highly-specific seasonal capsules.

Kaelyn, I love winter hiking in the southeast! I'm thinking about planning a backpacking trip in Georgia or the Carolinas in late fall/early winter. Those weeks are pretty much the worst in the northeast -- foliage is gone, days are short and COLD, but not enough snow to make things fun and pretty.

I'm in Oklahoma City and it going to be 94 today, so tired of the heat. I'm so wanting to wear jeans and cardigans with booties, but not for a while, still in dresses and skirts and shorts on the weekends.

I'm in NM and it's been super hot here too. I've been wearing fall colors but still dressing for the heat. I have a new bright fuchsia sweater that I'm especially excited to wear this fall. I just bought new snakeskin print boots too that I'd like to wear but realistically it will be at least another month before it's cool enough for boots.

I'm in Austin, Texas and it's going to be 100 today, so it's still bermudas and sandals for me. It's okay, though, I prefer hot weather to cold, although I wouldn't mind sweating just a bit less!

My new western shooties will get broken out when we get our first cool front.

In fact September and part of October are our hottest months. I can't wait to wear my snake skin booties and bootcut jeans. Fortunately as the days get shorter the evenings get cooler, and our 20 degree difference in day and night temps< I can wear them in the evenings.

Joy--I remember hearing about snow persisting pretty late this year in some parts of the country. We didn't get any, which was kind of a welcome change from the last couple of winters where we've had snow and ice bad enough to shut down a lot of infrastructure. I enjoy that kind of weather, but we really can't handle it in the South. I hope you enjoy your long jeans and boots/booties when you finally get to!

Janet--Ooooh, I love that animal print lapel jacket and both pairs of boots. I hope to see some outfit posts from you with those in the future!

JAileen--I love the skull sweater! I got a long-sleeved tee from Target with a ribcage and arm bones on it. It's time to get spooky. The polar bear sweater is cute, too. I love me some LL Bean.

Kate--The curry and chestnut pants sound beautiful, as does the scarf. I love fall colors so much. And now I want curry. ;-)

bonnie--I'm so envious; that sounds like my ideal weather! My best friend lived in AZ for a few months, working in the Grand Canyon, but she's a summer lover who was there in the winter when it was snowy.

FashIntern--A hot fall challenge sounds like a great idea! I haven't framed it that way, but I've been trying to find cool ways to wear some of my fall pieces in the heat. As a 90s fan, my go-to has been wearing loose fitting jeans rolled at the ankle, tees, a flannel shirt tied around my waist, and either sneakers or sandals. It works really well because then I have something to throw on if it's cold indoors. Those boots you posted are lovely--I'm glad you finally got to wear them!

Cardiff girl--Too true about not being happy with what we have--I briefly missed the hot summers I'm used to when I lived in Maine for a year. Very briefly. ;-) I'm likely to move to a different climate in several months (depending on where I'm accepted for graduate school) and I'm sure there will be something about the weather that makes me miss home.

suntiger--Ha! I hope you've been enjoying the summer and cute dresses, then. I enjoy hiking, too, but not when it's hot--I'm all about that autumn, early winter, and early-mid spring hiking. To each their own. :-)

Preppy Pear--Those pieces are all great! I bought similar booties, and I'm excited to wear them, too.

nemosmom--Ah, yes, hoodies! I'm looking forward to those, too. And I offer my sympathies about having to paint your toenails.

I’m another one who escaped the heat. Two years ago, we were living in Tampa and I was beyond sick of the heat, so I did a hot fall challenge to come up with outfits that were ok in the heat but still somehow acknowledged the season (mostly with color but also some thin knits). I bought these boots the following winter. We moved over the summer (after 8,5 years there) and finally got to wear them last winter.

It's been in the 60 and 70's F where I live all summer. Everyone says it's been an unseasonably cool summer. I'm not complaining because I moved here from AZ where it was 107F everyday for 7+ months. Good thing that fall weather is my favorite, too. I'll be wearing fall colors to honor the season.

That’s not too much to ask, is it?

It was in the 90s today — the heat is lasting a bit late for this part of the country, and I’m so over it.

Hello. I know I can't be the only one on this forum. Where are my fellow hot climate folks? I'm in Atlanta, where it's been in the 90s (Fahrenheit) fairly consistently of late. What are you looking forward to wearing when it finally gets cool enough?

Here's my list:

A glorious long black and white patterned baby alpaca scarf, bought in Peru.

A new gray denim jacket that goes with pretty much anything.
