The ones that work best to my eye are the ones in which the dresses don't look like everyday dress silhouettes -- when my eye can see them more as long tops or tunics. If something is too distinctly DRESS-like, it just looks like, oh yeah, she pulled on a pair of pants under her dress, like I had to do when I was a little kid and the weather cooled off. </p> <p>In this case, I think the asymmetrical hemline really helps the effect. The sharpness of the black blazer with the footwear offset the romantic vibe of the dress. I don't know if this would work on a petite frame. The A-line it creates looks a bit overpowering. Also the white on darker colours soars too much, like it doesn't belong there. I understand the pants' cropped cut gives it a romantic, "Pierrot" look but, to be frank, reminds me too much of nightwear.
