Nobody wanted him, and I'm not sure what the deal was, just that he had been transferred from one state to another. He was going to be put down and a charitable organization transferred him to a shelter with a higher adoption rate, where I found him. </p> <p>Yeah, it took some time and ....um...patience, but it all worked out. </p> <p>Anyway, just wanted to share these happy pictures - and I'm so glad everyone liked them. Gus is extremely pleased about having his pictures posted on a fashion site. Apparently I need to get him a new collar for summer, seems the turquoise zebra print is 'dated' now. My dog was a real handful - was set to be put down and had spent most of his life in and out of shelters. The shelter I adopted him from couldn't believe that I was keeping him, no matter what. </p> <p>The best part is that even though he's so well behaved now, he still has his ridiculous personality - absurd even. Will sit in the bathroom batting his eyelashes at me while I put on eye makeup. He still does stupid things...steals laundry out of the hamper and puts it into his food bowl! So many laughs, so much ridiculous fun. :)</p> <p>Meanwhile, I remember when I first met this guy - called him on a recommendation from a neighbour - he was brand new at the business and had started a dog walking/boarding business. He trains doggies, takes them way up into the wilderness to socialize with other dogs, and looks after them when their 'parents' are away. </p> <p>Got some great pictures sent to me while I was out of town...</p> <p>Just for the record, Gus (black lab) is the most difficult dog I've ever had - got him from the pound at two years of age, and he had 'issues' (to say the least), having spent most of the <i>first two years of his life in&nbsp;shelters</i>. I remember the shelter phoning me every few days and then every few weeks after - "Just phoning to see how you're doing with Gus...oh, you're keeping him???" and so on. </p> <p>Guess what? He's now the very best behaved dog I've ever known. I think he maybe just needed a chance to run around in the mountains (off leash) with other canine friends. :)</p> <p>I thought these pictures were really cute, and wanted to share them with fellow doggie fans on YLF. </p> </p>
