Actually I have a record of measurements too! I think my method was in essence the same as yours. My thighs are currently 22" - Got up to 24" while pregnant and 21" is the lowest I have recorded (only have records for last few years) - that was about 8 months after DD2 and for a while afterwards.

I have to admit that prior to YLF my thighs would have been the thing about my body I'd most like to change. (Now I'd say longer legs,) From certain angles they look fine and then suddenly can look scarily huge. One example is if I look down under my arm and down the side.
However in some of my recent pictures I feel like I am becoming top heavy, not in the sense of bust heavy but like my torso is more substantial, which I suppose it is, comparied to 8 years ago.

Must be so hard to exercise in that weather!

Ack, I just went and measured, and my thighs right now are 18 inches.

I also just checked my diet journal (a spreadsheet, because you know how I like to spreadsheet things). When I started recording my measurements in Jan '07 (after dieting for a long while - I started dieting in March '06) my thighs were 20 inches. They got down to about 17.5 inches, then I stopped tracking because I'd reached my goal weight.

Hmmm... and now they are up to 18 inches again? That is the effect of slacking off on exercise, because my weight has stayed stable. I can't say it's muscle gain (which wouldn't bother me at all) because I've done nothing to grow any muscle. :-(

I've got to get moving again soon!

I actually don't mind shapely thighs at all. You fill out jeans better and it makes your waist look slimmer, IMO.

Hi Anne! That's awesome about your swimming!!! I'm so impressed! Even if you can only manage it once a week, I am sure it makes a difference.

I measure my thighs at the widest part, which is close to crotch level but a little lower. I don't have any saddle bag to speak of, but my inner thighs are kinda like... reverse saddle bags! Right now they are flabby looking. I need to get back to my regularly scheduled walking program, and they will firm up again. The weather is getting better here but with all the snow, cold, and ice in recent months, I've really fallen off the wagon. I did dance a lot on Saturday - and boy - did I feel it the next day.

Shiny
1) sometime recently (I can't find the post) you mentioned your thighs measured 17". I have another measuring question. How do you measure your thighs? (I usually do mine straight around at crotch level)

2) Just wanted to let you know that I did the ocean swim (of about 2.2 miles)I mentioned to you a while ago about 10 days ago. I made it all the way in much less time than I had expected, which I am pretty pleased about! Thanks for your encouragement with swimming! (I don't think I can keep it up as my main cardio exercise though - just too time consuming for term time - I may manage once a week)
