Seconding this request - given that this is a discussion forum, returning results by date would make the most sense. Clearly other Google CSE customers are looking for this functionality as well: http://www.google.com/search?q.....38;bih=743

A possible workaround would be finding some way to embed the post date in the search results so that the user can eyeball the results and pick recent ones if that's important to her. In fact, the current "posted 5 months ago", "posted 2 years ago" type dating of individual forum posts is in and of itself extremely ambiguous - it would help to have actual dates.

The search on YLF is provided by Google, so the order is based on their relevance algorithm. I will look into it, but as far as I know there is very little one can do to customize the results.

We might have to switch to another solution if the Google results don't work well enough.

Thanks for letting me know.

Yes, that has happened to me too. I can't figure out the logic behind the order of the search results. Maybe if it were an option to order the results by how recent they are for example?

I'm curious on this too, often I search for a thread and can't find it very easily for some reason.

Greg, I have thought of this several times and figured I should bring it up. Is there a way to make the search function on the site slightly more robust? I find that sometimes I think of a recent thread and can remember the subject, but not the author, so I use the search function. But the results come back in what seems to be a random order (or by relevance, which most of the times seems random to me, although I know there is a system in place). It would be fantastic if we could sort the results so the most recent would be listed first, or if we could put in some kind of a date range. No idea if that would be easy to implement on your end, of course!
