Geargirl: It's very true that casual, but not too casual tops can be difficult. I actually saw several tops at the Ted Baker site that would be very interesting to wear in a more casual formula. Maybe you'll like some of it, too?

I tend to put on a scarf sooner than later, too, but sometimes I feel too warm with them indoors. And when I remove it, I feel very plain. I move around a lot when I teach, and I can't wear a big scarf then.

Wow! You did an amazing job! I think the MOTG formulas are so helpful. Yet, one needs to update them for one's own lifestyle, climate, and activities. Like you, I look to the formulas for my work style. I am a huge fan of accessories to keep casual outfits interesting. In my case that means scarves with Everything!
Where did you find that top? Have you found some interesting tops to make your casual outfits work? I have trouble finding casual, but not too casual tops and shirts for work. I need machine washable too! Please let us know where you found it! Thanks!

I've been doing my homework today and tried to wrap my head around the casual MOTG formulas. It's been very interesting! I understand that these formulas can be tweaked in several directions, and for me, the "on the go" means work-appropriate wear (teaching, not meetings and presentations), not being on the go with kids. I actually think that my casual capsules are the ones that need updating more than my smart casual ones after my read today. Food for thought.

I more and more understand why the emphasis should be on dressing for my actual climate and lifestyle. I also believe that my casual outfits in general tend to bore me, and that's why I end up overdressing to some extent. None of the items in this set are in my possession, except for dark wash jeans. My wish list now has a listing of printed/graphic/embellished tops. And a new bag!

What do you think? Did I create a casual but interesting outfit? How would you interpret this formula, including 2012 trends if necessary?
